anyone using a koyo rad??

Just noticed they are making rads for the FC now. is anyone running one? does it work with the stock fan shroud?

Are you referring to the Koyo aluminum radiators that are all over Ebay?

If so, I am curious myself if anyone is using one. I was thinking of picking one up in the near future, maybe wait until winter time, when I don't need to drive as much.

My friend has one. Ill ask him about all the details.

Scott 89t2 07-01-02 01:17 PM

the ones on ebay are for 3rd gens

thanks adam. cause I am looking at the pic HERE and if you look at the koyo one. it doesn't have the mounts on the side to bolt it to the car, or to bolt the shroud up. I'm sure it's just a pic error. but I want to make sure. I sent them an e-mail as well asking. I don't know how long till they get some more stock though.

the koyo's are great. The ones for the 3rd gen are really nice quility.

hmm, here's the reply.

"On the Koyo late model 2nd generation you have to use the old brackets off your OEM radiator and bolt them to the Koyo unit for the correct install."

that's great considering I have a CSF one peice one right not LOL..

O well I just got a new rad cap. the other looked screwed and was leting coolant through the top. maybe it'll be better now.

I think those brackets they are reffering to are the letal grommet looking things and the rubber donuts. I had to remove those from my old radiator to install my Fluidyne.

Just as a precaution, if they send you a 16+lb rad cap, see if your stock one fits. When I installed my Fluidyne, it had a 16lb cap, which in turn blew out my already old water pump, and it started leaking out of the weep hole. Now I use the stock Mazda OEM cap on it and have had no problems.
