anyone run race gas?

i was wondering if any of you ever run racegas... like turbo Blue (110 octane) or C16 (116 octane) i was gonna run some 110 octane when i went to the track just to see if i could run a couple more pounds of boost (13 or so) cause i'm to 10 right now. however i dont have an EGT gauge so i cant really tune for the higher octane. how much more boost can you all run with 110 or 116 octane compared to pump gas?

My expereince is a bit different since my turbo is significantly larger than yours. I run 1.2bar on the street with 91 octane and currently am tunned to 1.3bar with 101. Once I upgrade ignition I'll be tunning for ~1.5-1.6bar on race gas.

Boost wise you can run a ton with C16... but tunning is the key... if you aren't tunned for a specific level, be very careful just turning up the boost, even with better gas.

I ran some years ago in my NA - on my first time at the strip...no wonder my times were so terrible (NA's like low octane). Next time at the track I was right where I should be running 15 flat right on stock TII's. again, this was many years ago...race gas stinks and makes your exhaust tips white. we run jet fuel in our S130Z turbo at the shop - drive up to the local small airport anf filler up hehe

I used to run C16 and Philips 112 in my Talon all the time, I used to go from 18psi with the VPC "gain" knob at ~50% to 28psi with the VPC "gain" knob turned all the way lean running 20ish deg of advance under full load with no knock audible to the stock knock sensor.

I think leaded gas smells awesome, much better than unleaded. I am teatering on the edge of selling my TII and going back to a DSM, mostly because I miss big boost and leaded fuel.

The only thing leaded gas will hurt is O2 sensors and catalytic converters.

It is very hard to say you can run X more boost or X more timing on race gas because it depends on alot of factors.

Also you will usually run richer with the same injector duty cycle, because most racegas has a higher specific gravity than normal unleaded so more gets injected in the same amount of time.

just to let you know: racing beat run a three rotor at 900hp at 6000 on 91 pump gas. tuning is the key. I ran a 12.2 at 121.6 on 91 oc. with a t60 ported motor and engine stand alone mang. tuning is the key!!!
