Anyone with a RFL BOV? (quick question)
 

Anyone who has a RFL bov, or anyone that has owned one before or knows about them. I was wandering if there is suppose to be some grease type 'substance' in the bov? I looked at my buddies rfl and he had some kinda thick grease inside. Is there suppose to be any grease inside the rfl?

yeah im pretty sure thats just from the little bit of oil that flows into the IC pipe from the turbo.. but im not positive

So you are saying that there shouldnt be anything in the bov?

theres grease inside because those piston typer bov's leak really bad. the grease is there to help seal the piston to the body.

So there is suppose to be grease there. Well I ordered a RFL and it doesnt have any inside. Can I buy that 'grease' somewhere? Does it matter what type of grease? Or do you guys recommend anything?

Maybe Lithium Grease? Or brake grease?

Maybe a different type of BOV would benefit you more. Thats just gonna mist that stuff under your hood.

I have one bought it brand new and it didnt have anything really noticable in it????

this is stupid...if you bought it new just put the damn thing on you dont need to grease it

I bought some grease, and YES IT DID HELP. I guess, i helps out the bov. It helped out my leak and it works! Thanks for the help...

What does everyone use on their RFL? Or do you guys use any? The grease that i bought seems to rub off and just dissappear... So I guess I got the wrong type of grease. Any suggestions on what I should use?

It should not need anything.

Hmmm... thats weird then. i put some on, and it works beautifully. So I don't know what else to do???

mine had a bit of oil on it after some use, but normaly it should not have any if thats what your asking.

i used to use dielectric grease on my old piston type it helped( it was the thickest grease i had around)

i know mine leaks and i hate it

Install it as is, then pressure your intake system to the psi you plan to run. I can test mine up to about 15psi before the tester will pop out. If it still leaks add some washers and test again.

Add some washers to preload the spring if it leaks. That is right in the instructions. Mine has/has had no oil ever.

i don't understand these bov's...the spring inside is to keep the piston closed at vacuum, that's why u need washers, not to put them on to keep it closed during boost. it's an effin POS...and it shouldn't need grease to help seal it. just another reason of it being a bad BOV

The spring inside is to keep it closed under boost. Under vacuum it will seal itself. If you start running more boost than the spring can handle, you will need to add washers.
