Anyone know what the variable resistor does?

Just curious what the variable resistor does. It's near the boost sensor on the passenger strut tower.

Thanks.

it adjusts the idle fuel/air mixture, set at the factory...we shouldn't ever have to mess with it, (but we do!)

Hey...could that be bad on my car?! Could that cause something in my engine bay to stop working?!

It's got a plug just below the bracket that the unit's mounted to- read it out, dig the sealant out of the bore if ya want & play with while reading it out, just mark the original screw location so you can set it to it's original position...Might be easier to get to if you remove the air box...

My Airbox is gone!!! I have a K&N Filter...but not like that helps me go faster or anything...since...my car is dead.

Good- better access :)...read from the brown/white wire at the plug (going to the resister) to the black wire- that should be a fixed resistance, whatever it may be...then read from the brown/white to the green/black wire while turning the screw- that should be your variable resistance...

Sweet...and that changes my Air/Fuel...hmm...interesting...So, theoretically, when my car is running I can open the intake like a mother and just adjust that resistor and make the car perform like a cherry?! Not that cherries perform, or anything.

I think it's just for idle air/fuel mixture...the ECU maps take over from there...

White 87 13B 06-01-04 08:23 PM

Oh...damn...well...I can run lean at idle to save on gas during stop and stop driving...

WAYNE88N/A 06-01-04 08:25 PM

Ha,ha, then you'll run hotter...Don't mess with it unless you have to...It's not going to help your 1/4 mile times :)

Okay...I will leave it alone... WHAT DOES THIS BUTTON DO?!?!?!
