anyone have recording?????

i want to hear a recording of a full exhaust system without any sort of presilencer. hopefully someone has one. and if not a recording but you have that type of exhaust, how loud is it?????????

well if you mean just pipes fromt he header back then it probably is not that much different then open headers. If you want to hear some crappy recordings of that head over to my thread.

steve's dog 06-04-03 04:08 PM

how much noise do the mufflers silence? how much quieter do you think it is than open headers if it only had a muffler to silence it?

1987RX7guy 06-04-03 04:11 PM

wll the mufflers do a hell of a lot of work to keep things under control. In the later pages of my open headers thread there is a clip of the duals on my car and the tape recorder is on the read bumper while the first and second tapings of the open headers alone is from the rear spoiler. That will give you a good comparison on how much they do.

in that last recording did you have a presilencer too?

1987RX7guy 06-04-03 04:23 PM

the duals have twin pre-silencers and rb mufflers

---------pre-silencer--------------muffler

--------------pre-silencer--------muffler

like so :)

keep in mind that the car had(still does :( ) have an exhaust leak so it was a bit more high pitched than normal

im not sure if i want to go with a presilencer or just a pipe. if i dont really care about how much louder it is without the presilencers what should i get?

1987RX7guy 06-04-03 04:30 PM

well if you want to keep the normal operation of your auxilary ports you will need that RB pre-silencer with the H-fitting on it for the split air tube. Otherwise you will need to wire them or do electrical operation of them but I don't know much about that.

steve's dog 06-04-03 04:32 PM

i dont have aux ports, remember.

1987RX7guy 06-04-03 04:34 PM

well if that is the way you want it then go with the flow. If you just have a race pipe made then you will get minimum ristriction. But I would say get those sleeves back in there to give you some extra power down low.

steve's dog 06-04-03 08:39 PM

ok, well, the guy said he could put flanges on the bonds pipe silencer thing to connect the headers to the cat back. so thats what im going with. but next time im there to pay i'll make sure to ask him about the aux. ports. i think he had a pretty good reason to take them out though. so im not sure.
