Anyone have a lowered car with 225/45/R17 Tires?

Do you experience any rubbing? What springs do you have (how much is it lowered)?

Nick86 07-11-05 11:45 AM

Tire size and springs are only part of the equation.

What are the wheel specs?

How Wide?

Offset?

Honestly though - unless your wheels are really weird offset - the tires shouldn't rub.

actually when i just put on my coil overs, my tires were slightly rubbing on the spring of the coil overs... i add some 1/4" spacers and it was fine... i was told to get an alignment as well and it should help....

It depends on the offset of the wheel. I have 225/45/17s on an 8" wide rim and a +25 offset up front and I rub a bit even without springs. You'll need to tuck the wheels in a bit if you plan on lowering it much. Oh also, this is fender rub, not suspension rub, I am close to the suspension, but definitely not touching it.

Can find the offset and rim width on the rim? ( I don't remeber much of any specs when I bought them over 4 yrs ago, I also don't know much about suspension stuff)

Doesnt lowering a FC necessitate a rear camber adjuster and some kind of tie rod kit on the front to avoid bumpsteer issues?

Camrann 07-11-05 02:41 PM

Mine is lowered. Dont have any of that stuff. Drives fine.

Better go bitch out all the bumpsteer-fools who think lowering the steering rack is gonna mess up the car then

BTW, is that icon your car? Nice bumper/lip. Make any difference with handling at speed or is it just for looks?

most people lower their car for looks. it does help in handling wise it lower the car's center of gravity. it depend on how much he lowered his car and how much the car suspension geometry altered for the bump steer to be noticable. friend of mine lowered his 240sx 2" and had minor bump steer.
