anyone ever do a front differential mount?
anyone ever do one? how hard are they to do? Any suggestions on brand? Energy suspension maybe?
front differential? arent those only on awd and fwd cars
the bushing on the front of the rear differential
ahh, missed the mount part
its a pain in the ass. you have to drop the subframe to do it. as far as i know mazda is the only one who makes it, they have 2 though. the competition and the stock one.
mike |
its not as difficult as you would think, just take yer time and make sure you have the body supported really well as you drop the subframe.
apparently on one of the sights I checked out, Energy suspensions polyurethane kit comes with that bushing. I needed to know if the sub frame did need to be dropped. How much of a pain in the ass is it? Ive already done a complete front end swap and a clutch in my driveway.
and has anybody used the bushing from energy suspension? I want the best bushing for this job, I dont want to have to do the damn thing again
if u do it... could u make a write up on how to do it? i want to do the mounts too on my TII
I'm gonna try to get some advice from someone who's done the job first
Well, then here's the advice.
Drop the subframe. 100000% times easier. Can you do it without that? Sure, loosen the subframe nuts, remove the drivers side nut, and lower so you can get your tools up there. Easier to drop the subframe, that way everything's out in the open. Do you need more advice? How to drop subframe? Not sure how familar you are with this stuff. PaulC |
ok i can give y ou a jist of the write up right here:
disconnect your rear brake lines, remove your rear swaybar, there are 2 mounts up above the rear axle, 2 mounts in front of the rear tires and some other odds and ends stuff. make sure the car is up high and supported well. if you really need more of a description drop me a PM and i can walk you thru it. |
Its not a pain in the ass like everyone makes it sound. Its just time consuming. I lowered the subframe a bit and removed my exhaust from the "Y" pipe back. You dont have to remove the exhaust but you have more room to work with without it.
Heres a good thread about it: https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...threadid=39026 Read through it and youll get lots of good info. |
Try doing something unique. Download the factory service manual and read the section on the differential. Step by step instructions exist there.
You Go Hailers!!!! And while your at it. Clean your injectors and do some basic maintenance before you worry about NEATO FLASHY GO FAST SHIT
What are the symptoms of a broken diff. mount. When I start to move in my 86 base model I feel this shuddering coming from the rear end. Only happens after the car moves about 10 - 15 feet. Is that a broken mount?
James |
Broken mount = "CLUNK" sound in the back when you lift off the gas and when you get back on it. You hear it when youre changing gears.
the factory service manual does not tell of first hand experience or possible pitfalls of the job. So the FSM is not the end all and be all of information about a particular job.
you have to take off the exhaust, from the y pipe back.
and loosen the subframe, it will pop loose and then you can change it. mike |
i did it the other day and i had to drop the subframe, i just let it hang on top of the exhaust. (not the best idea in the world), i just disconnected the camber link and the shocks and the main bolts. changing your differential is a BIG PITA
good luck Justin |
