Anyone else have this problem?
alright well im new to my 7, its a '89 n/a
during start up the car idles at about 1000 and will rev up and down to bout 1300 as if your like feathering the gas pedal without even touching anything... Does it continue to do this until the car is warmed up?? I've had the car running for some time and it jus keeps doing it but never stalls... Could it possibly be the injectors? |
mine does the same thing, has done it for the year and a half that ive had it. ive heard its a vac leak, but idk. hopefully someone will come in with a deff answer
|
Well I would say a vacuum leak...
|
tps is out of adjustment
|
Mine used to do it all the time. But ever since I got a fuel cut off switch, it hasn't really been revving up and down too much. Can't say that it fixed the problem, but much better than before. tps adjustment made little to no difference when I was tinkering with it, but then again, what do i know?
hope this helps. |
Either a vacuum leak or TPS out of adjustment (likely both).
|
alright cool, thanx for the replies.
goin to have to do a search on how to fix the tps |
|
even better, thanx a lot man
|
i didn't know where the link is but i found out it is better to do it by making the voltage to spec instead of the ohms. I set it ohms 1st but found out that setting it when the car was warm and at the spec volt turned out better

I've also had it happen on many other cars that use a Thermowax type fast idle system, similar to the RX-7.
When there's a bubble in the cooling system or low coolant, it can cause the thermowax to read the engine temperature wrong causing it to bounce between fast idle and normal idle... Not sure if this is a problem that affects RX-7s though. |
