Anyone break an afteramarket rear mount?
 

How much stronger are the aftermarker differential mounts. I want to know if mazdacomp or comparable rear mounts will withstand 520 rwhp. I will be lunching pretty hard at the tracks and driving home at the end of the day.

get the stronger one and still get it welded. Or just get back a stock one and really weld the crap out of it. I had mine done in 3 spots.

Get a regular diff mount and install a pinion snubber.

My mechanic used to work for a shop that drag raced a TII that was constantly launched at 6k+, and they stopped breaking diff mounts after they installed a pinion snubber.

To the best of my knowledge, they never used anything but stock mounts.

where did you make the welds and do you have any pictures? does welding the mounts make it a solid mount?? if so then the car must vibrate alot.

Every time you engage the drivetrain, the front of the differential tries to push upwards towards the floor. Mazda created a stupid front diff mount that is a basically a chunk of rubber with a piece of steel bonded to each side. One piece of steel goes to the diff, and one goes to the subframe.
Hammer on the drivetrain enough and you'll break the bonds (like I did.) Then the diff will hit the floor and you get the notorious thumping.

The pinion snubber is a bumper that you put directly over the front of the differential. It prevents the diff from snapping upwards, sparing the front diff mount from trying to absorb all that force (especially when you dump the clutch at high revs.)
