Anybody using Royal Purple's Synchromax?

Anybody using Royal Purple's Synchromax for their manual trans? It's the only product that my dealer carriers.

If not, should I not use Synchromax.

Don't use it, find a new dealer!

Syncromax is an ATF/motoroil substitute for cars that do not use gearoil in their manual transmissions.

If you want to use RP, use the Maxgear 75w90.

Neo/Mobil1/Redline/Amsoil/Schaeffers/Motul/renewablelube..... also make excellent fluids that meet the required Mazda specs(see owners manual) and are available at various speedshops.

I'm not up to par on the internals of your trannies, but if you have anything brass inside, stay away from Royal Purple. It's very acidic, and will eat away the brass. A lot of the time synchros are brass, and I've heard on several occasions, people with other cars, having synchro problems after using Royal Purple.

I say go for some Redline. Their products are all good and if you look up their site, they can tell you where to get them locally.

I agree, Redline products are very good. I used their oil in my last car, and it really worked well, nice smooth shifting. :)

Not sure how far, but you can get some in McHenry the site says. Or order the right royal purple stuff from Racing Beat.

the royal purple made my trans. my noise in all gears at low r.p.m. but changed to redline and no noise redline is the shizzzzznit

silverFC, what weight and type RP did you put in your trans?

Most synchro problems that I have seen were driver error or low fluid.

My owners manual, and the 88, 89 and 91 FSMs state that GL4 or GL5 was specified by Mazda for both the NA and T2 manuals. This eliminates the worry about synchros. If the GL5 is OEM recommended, then the transmission has been engineered for it and in most situations won't suffer any synchro issues. I can't say the same about the other automakers(where all the anti-GL5 rumors started) that required GL4.

Straight from Royal Purples website:
Maxgear also is safe for GL4 applications or bronze synchro gears.

I prefer the MT90 from Redline myself but have installed other RP without any fluid caused problems in various vehicles.
