i love apexi gauges, i also love their new "shallow" style and its also in american units! i hate having to sit there staring at my greddy boost gauge to figure out how much PSI i'm running from kg/cm^2..

this looks like a pretty good price for it too..

gsracer 07-18-04 05:19 PM

Bah, 1/10 of 1 kg/cm^2 = 1.42 psi. Easy!

Actually, I'm more comfortable reading pounds as well. Apexi makes quality guages, I'm sure it'll be fine. Older mechanical greddy boost guages pop up every once in a while for usually under 50-60 bucks; keep your eyes open.

jacobcartmill 07-18-04 06:00 PM

i ave a greddy one right now. are you saying there were older greddy sytle gauges in PSI?

gsracer 07-18-04 06:08 PM

No, they were still in kg/cm^2, but they only went up to 1.5 kg/cm^2 so they were a little easier to read.

That is a pretty good price.

I bought the EL2 electric boost and EGT gauges a couple of years ago, and I've very happy with them. I chose the electric over the mechanical for the simple reason of the datalogging.

jacobcartmill 07-26-04 08:38 AM

jimmy, you have any pictures of the gauges? i want the white face PSI EL2 gauges that light up blue with the bright red needle. how much did you pay for yours?

jimmyv13 10-31-04 09:36 PM

sorry for not responding earlier, JC.

I bought both of my gauges from rxecret7, and yes, they are the white faced gauges that light up blue with the red needle. I really like them, but I'd prefer the faces to NOT light up blue, it gets annoying after awhile and draws too much attention for me.

Tell me all about your factory gauges and what you did to them to do that, I was thinking of doing the very same the other day! It looks like you put on FD needles or something (somehow) and then used one of those ebay guage kits?

But I too have that guage. I bought the one that reads in kPA because I'd prefer to know in terms of bar, that easily transfers to PSI anyway. (1 on the kPA guage reads 1 bar so it's easy to go to PSI incase you go that route) I'm stoaked on the guage though. Not a huge fan of the blueness, as it's a stark contrast to the factory stuff, but they're nice. Beware of the white face though, if the sun strikes it just right it'll blind you good.

I removed the FC needles and installed FD needles on the gauge pins. They don't fit EXACTLY, so a little JB Weld came in handy. I had to use the FD needles because the LED needle kit that I bought required clear needles to work, the FC needles are solid white then painted orange. The FD needles are clear with red paint on the front edge. The gauge kit is from eBay for ~$30. What I really like about the cluster, they almost perfectly match the red needles on the Apex'i gauges. I really like the results.

bringing it back from the grave.

What gauge layovers are those? ...annnnnd how did you light the needles?

fstrnyou 12-19-04 08:23 AM

personally, i perfer the stock look of teh guage cluster. and if you want a boost guage to closely match the stock cluster, go Defi'. Black face, amber illuminating. red needle tho.
