Any suggestions on stock s4 grill mods?
i was thinking about cutting out the grill slats on my front spoiler and doing something to spice it up a bit, perhaps the mesh who knows. anyone have any other ideas for a little home improvement?
enclosed are also 2 pics of my dusty vert in storage. You can see the top cover i have to protect the vinyl from the dust and deterioration. My dad had the cover custom made and used to use it when the top was down so he didnt have to constantly open and close the top and to protect from dew and such..... i like this use better as i always put the top up at night. maybe i need a full cover but i have yet to find a good fit for the vert and customis too pricey |
dusty!

I had cut out the two top outside blacked out grill slots & added 55w daytime running lights.

Well the stock grill only protects agains small animals and other large objects while driving. I'd say if you want extra cooling cut the grill out and leave it like that. That mesh stuff is probalby a bad thing for cooling as it seems to take up more of the open space than the stock grill slats.

Here is a paint-up of fog lights or daytime running lights.

thanks for the idea with the fogs! yeah, having front tags sucks but ive descided to remove it come spring and just have it in the window.
any pics of the slats simply cut out? |
I don't have my 87 pics with me.
Have you seen where some mount the tag at the top of the grill opening with a hinge on the top edge. It can then swing up out ot the way at speed. |

As for the license plate, I have the stock bracket that mounts the plate partly blocking the opening. I fixed that by redrilling the plate to mount it higher on the bracket, with the top of the plate in line with the top of the rubber strip. This would be just as easy to do with a custom bracket. |

Just like this:
http://www.racingbeat.com/Gallery/86Bonneville.jpg Looks like they cut out a few of the braces. Looks stock, but better. They may have just blacked them out, though. |
Looks good inwhite
although i dont think it will be all that great with my black paint. thanks for the idea though.

move the plate...it covers a bunch of airflow space for your cooling.

that's cuz it is......I cut mine in My S5.....I think it looked good.......

Wow I've never seen the front license plate so low before. It looks like the bracket is on upside down. Which you can do BTW. Get that thing back up in front of the rubber strip and out of the way of airflow.
