Any one know anything about old school intercooler
hey guys, im curious does anyone have any good info about the old school greddy/ trust intercoolers? Like the Pro's and Con's of them? It would be much appreciated.

i too would like to know some info...seems these intercoolers are hard to come by....or i have just been living under a rock

They all suck! :D
With GReddy's new 24R and 24V HUGE FMIC kits, those older kits are just too small. Add the fact that those eBay IC cores (+ endtanks) are just too damn cheap for what you get. -Ted |
They also have some rather long piping, as compared to the newer style, but they don't require any cutting if I remember right?

GReddy requires a pretty good hole cut in the passenger side rad support. The HKS claims you need an even bigger hole cut in the same position. -Ted |
Ah, ok, the only one I've seen looked like it went under the radiator. Thanks for the info though! (I sure do hate how they wrap around and then come back out the passanger side and then accross the engine)

I have one in my car, and the reason why I went with it is because the piping all goes to one side of the car. I dont know who said that there was no cutting involved.

Why'd you like all the piping on the one side? |
Power steering...
:) |
I've got powersteering with my new greddy, at most all you have to do is bend the line over a little bit.
|
Well, I didnt want to go there, so I didnt.

no cutting for me......the hole was already cut out from the rad support though when I got the car  . As far as the cores being to small I believe they are still good for higher hp levels. If they weren't you wouldn't see people like rxtasy on teamfc3s.org that runs half bridges and huge turbos with them. I know he runs water injection but I've read the cores are good to about 450hp or so. Now I'm not saying the new ones aren't better but the old ones are fine for bnr upgrades and such and even smaller full turbo upgrades.

That and your radiator wasn't even in place, so I guess that made it a bit harder to notice!
|
lol, yeah just a tad :) I would have said no cutting either though because I didn't have to cut anything and I always thought it was just open there but I guess not. You learn something new every day :)

thanks guys for the help, is there alot of cutting invloved? Also does anyone have the online manual handy?
|
I do just pm me your email address and I'll send it also it should just be about a 2.5" hole because I believe the pipes are 2.25"
