Any negative effects from running a ported WG without a boost controller?
I have a BNR Stage 2 turbo on my car, with the wastegate ported. When I bought the car, it had this weird Greddy MBC on it, set as low as possible. Will I encounter any problems removing the MBC and running just off the internal wastegate to control everything.

Nope.
The only small negative is that it might run at a lower boost than you'd like... -Ted |

Yep, I was going to estimate that boost would be in the 5 to 7psi range. :)

well, you can remove it, but you have to cap that vacuum line to the solenoid, not just leave it open. or else instead of running low boost, you'll run insanely high boost.

Im not dumb, I know I gotta run a line from the source at the inlet to the WG solenoid. |
Alright so took off the boost controller yesterday. During the day it was hitting about 5.5psi most times. But at one point I did a pull in 4th at about 70 it creaped all the way to about 8.5 or so, but it was still going and I let off just to be safe.
Later at night, it was still hitting about 5.5psi, but then I didnt another 4th gear at 70 pull and it shot to 10psi. I was really confused, shouldnt it have hit fuel cut? I dont have any sort of FCD on the car, could my boost sensor be bad and not reading boost properly? |
