any idea as to why my clutch is STILL slipping???

ive got a 91 gxl, i put a clutch in it 500 mile ago and its slipping again, along with the xtd heavy duty clutch i put in a fadanza light flywheel with the counter ballance, and a new rear man seal.

the old clutch wasnt bad it still had sme lfe on it but it was slipping to, and it was a cheap ebay clutch.

so im realy lost, heres tha sh** kicker, once its gotten warm it wont slip in 4th:wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash:

any ideas at all??????

Spray it down with brake cleaner through the inspection cover.

Have you adjust your clutch pedal freeway? Is your clutch stiff all through the pedal travel or does it have some freeway.

Too much clutch freeplay causes chatter, not slippage.

its got 2-3 inches of play at the top and as im pushing it down u can feal it disengage

You should be able, spray at the pressure plate Or through the grooves.

Do you cleaned the flywheel, the disc and the pressure plate before the installation to remove dirt and grease? An oily film is always present to conserve the parts against rust. The disc can be cleaned to remove dust. Do you have an oil leak in the rear seal?

XTD's are the worst crap you can put in your car and is the exact reason why it's slipping. You just learned the don't cheap out on quality parts lesson.

ya i cleaned it all realy good, and i doubt the rear man is leakng cuz i replaced it when i did the clutch

 damn ballin my bad, shoot some money my way and it wont be an issue again.

farberio 05-05-08 12:10 PM

Ballin nothing.

You spent $146 on a clutch. Now you will have to spend an additional $200 for a good clutch. You spent $350 on a clutch pretty much...thats ballin for a stock clutch.

Look into this.

You pay more for bad parts in the long run.

i wasnt execting a real secial clutch but this thing only has 5-600 mile on it, it shouldnt be slipping, i know other are tunning them without a prob.

The XTD only goes 5k miles on the best quality XTD ever. If a 4 puck was run before you put in the XTD your flwheel is probably bad and would need to be resurfaced. So if you are going to do that you might want to look at a better clutch.

I know that my brother Eclipse GST with 398hp have one of that XTD clutches. Is the one that have a 6 springs bronze disc. The flywheel is the stock one. The clutch have around 1 1/2 years and is no slipping. The car is a daily driver at highway in a 2 hours round trip. I was considere the same clutch for my Turbo 2. I dont think that they are bad products, but maybe something wrong happened on the installation or a manufacturer defects. Some clutches use shims between the pressure plate and the flywheel, other dont. Most clutches likes the 500 miles break-in. I think that you can consider to pull ot the tranny and inspect the clutch system and the flywheel. Maybe you can find that the disc is not making a good contact with the pressure plate and/or with the flywheel. An incorrect torque sequence can be the responsable for the slipping?

i know the fly-wheel is god i replaced it with the clutch, i was just tryn to see if there was any sugestions bfore i pull the tranny again
