Any good CNC fabricators out there?
Check this 80mm throttle body out that bolts right up to the stock intake manifold. I wish I had the money to spend 400 bucks on it. Maybe someone can see this and make their own and sell it for a bit cheaper. I bet lots of people would buy this part if it didn't cost so much.

Find me a blueprint. Also for the materials and work on that part 400 seems pretty fair

that price is fair, a chunk of aluminum that size will cost about a hundred bucks alone then add in the cost of machinery, tooling and labor and it is about right.

I wish it had a simple hose outlet. Kinda detrimental to flow to have it change shapes 3 times before the plenum.

^^^ I was thinking that same thing, I wounder if you could just port it to make the transition not so bad and probably give it a lot more flow. If you didn't trust your porting skills you could probably send it off to bdc who does a great job at that.... Also you guys are probably right, I am really thinking about getting this besides the price and the above mentioned issue it seems like a really nice piece to the high hp street driven puzzle.

Also don't forget it has to use the FD TPS and won't work with the FC ones.

why not just design and build a plate to mount a 90mm TB onto it and bolt that up to the stock uim? done deal.

Why even bother though? Unless you are reaching the point where the stock throttle body holds you back (maybe 600HP?) then "upgrading" to this throttle body only has downsides:
-necessity to fab up some stuff -need to retune the car -loss of thermwax cold-start assist system -loss of progressive throttle action That last one is a big deal, because it means that now all intake ports are open all the time. The result is needing much more primary injector PW to maintain the same AFRs, making a serious dent in fuel economy. It is also far more difficult to tune smooth throttle transitions on such a big throttle body (I have a 75MM TB on my car). You will also loose some low end torque and the car will be generally twitchy to drive at low throttle. |

I still have a stock one in my Turbo II. My guess is they can go a long ways.

Unless you are already making insane amounts of horsepower, I'd never buy something like that around a power level that I've love to someday hit. It will kill your drivability anyways.
