Anti-Theft Protection
What type of anti-theft protection you use in your RX-7? Example: "Kill switch" Home-made or purchase, the club, etc.

parking deck & garage.

Anyone ever hear of attaching razor blades to the back of stereo head units or amps to cut open (and obviously piss off) someone trying to steal your stuff?!?
|
yeah, and i heard someone got sued for that. by a thief in CA
|
are you fucking serious?!
|
lol, how the hell you gonna get sued for protecting your car? thats absolutely ridculous.
|
LMAO!
haha anyways yeah i dont really think theres a way to make your car "steal proof" but listen these are the things i believe can make it very hard to steal your car. 1. Get a decent alarm system. There are kids out there trying to steal cars and when they see alarms in cars it does scare a lot of em away grant it not the profesionals of corse but a good chunk of them. 2. If you get a pager with your alarm system and it works right then youll always know if someone is fucking with your car. I have one and it never goes off unless somthing is really setting off the alarm. 3. Dont have too much shit in your car for ppl to see thats gives you a large risk of getting broken into. 4. DO NOT ADVERTISE YOUR CAR. This is by far the best advice. Dont tell ppl whats in your car, because commonly the thefts are done by ppl that know your car. 5. And my personal favorite is simply to keep your car close by when your at work/school if you can or possibly if you cant then try to park in a good area not in some secluded area. Sorry this came out so long im bored at work and i like to type:D :D |
who makes an alarm with the pager? how much did it cost? that would be the shit. ineed one that takes pictures of people who run into my car because its happened to all my cars at least once:mad:

But one of the most important things you can do is exercise common sense. Whenever possible park your car where other people can see it, and at night aim for well-lit areas like under street lights. Try to remove the opportunity for a thief to strike. |
one of my brothers friends has an alarm where it gives you a certain amount of time to enter in a code to disarm the alarm inside and if that time passes without entering it, the alarm goes off and the fuel is cut. maybe some other stuff happens too but thats a pretty good alarm.

I keep everything in my car in the storage bins, so nothing is visible, and my head unit is real discreet. Nothing fancy, it looks blank when it's turned off. Also, I have no graphics or decals on my car saying what performance stuff I have, or anything like that. All it takes is a little common sense, and your car will be fine.
EDIT: Also make sure (if you have a Turbo with a Timer) to hook up the security wire that goes to your E-brake. It's there for a reason: It shuts the car off if the e-brake is pulled while the turbo timer is running-good if you live in a college town like me and have to leave your car parked in a parking lot and walk 15 minutes to class. Stupid Penn State. Second EDIT: Drive a car uncommon enough that most people won't know what it is. Like here in State College, where there are only 2 other FC's. Everyone knows the FD, but nobody knows the FC. Especially if you take your RX-7 Badging off. Like me. Sneaky Sneaky. |

I have one and it never goes off unless somthing is really setting off the alarm. See most owners that get a pager system that works with their car security, are convinced they will go down and stop the thieves that are breaking into their car. BUT>>>Thieves are criminals... they don't want to be stopped. They don't want to go to jail. I can't tell you the number of people that go to stop the crime, when their pager goes off and end up getting mugged as well as their car getting stolen. Or worse, I can tell you of a half dozen people that went down carrying a firearm, and the look out guy sneaks up and shoots or at least bludgeons the owner from behind. If you think a pager is gonna let you save your car, by alerting you to run over and save it... you are sadly disillusioned. A well installed well known brand name security system, some common sense things (like not advertising your stereo at 125dB while you drive around town), a steering wheel lock, a car cover, all make your your car less desirable to take. |
Ice i know this, its actually common sense to me. The way i use a pager is that if i go out and see my car getting broken into due to the fact that my pager alerted me to my car alarm going off i stay within a considerable distance from my car pull out my cell phone and call the police. Im not going to try to stop em cuz id be afriad of them possibly hurting me or killing me. I might try to distract him by maybe screeming "I JUST CALLED THE COPS ASSHOLE" from a considerable distance so nothing could happen to me, or maybe not. This isint the same for all ppl cuz most ppl feel they need to take matters into their own hands, but i feel that thats why we have law inforcement. just my opinion
|
alarms dont work, they only bypass one wire, and its something you are into if you're stealing the car anyways

Alarms are useless to anyone who has any experience with them, most take 1 fuse to kill. Then they have all the time in the world. It's not that our cars get stolen, it's the breaking in and taking stereo etc that I'd worry about. You have subs? Bolt them down! Take pictures, have reciepts etc(For insurance). Don't go around bragging about your stereo, keep your cd collection and faceplate with you while your in school(I know several people at my Highschool that do this). Fuel cut switch is a great idea, but make sure it's hidden but easy to reach/get at.
|
I try to park head-on into a space, and then lock the steering wheel all the way right or left. Then they will have a tough time towing or loading it on a flatbed without first breaking the steering lock. It's not fool-proof by any means, but it could slow them down enough so they attract attention.

2 alarms, a kill switch and a mini bat In the storage bin.
|
720cc primaries and my afc stored nicely in my backpack :) Shit, they can have the keys.... the car dies after 3 seconds anyways... I don't see too many theives walking around with afc's ready to hook up

Does that club that goes on the brake pedal work? I have seen the car steering wheel clubs cut off quickly.
