Another power window prob

I've just replaced my to 86 base manual doors with gxl doors. The wiring harness inside the car doesn't have the connectors for the power windows, the auto door locks, or the the light on the door. The wires for the mirrors are there but nothing else.

I don't care about the doors locks or even the light, but getting the windows to work is a must.

I've looked in the site all day and I still need advice on which wires need to be run over to the passenger side.

I got the driver side to work, but I want to be able to work the other window from my seat.

Which wires do I need to run over to the passenger side to make that work? Which wires do what? What color are they? I really don't want to screw this up and blow a switch by experimenting.

You are using the stock switches I take it?

There is basically nothing to them, however I would prefer to set mine up via relays.. :p:

Essentially all you need are the 2 leads going to the power window motor, and a positive and negative source.

When you push the switch, it sends a positive and negative signal to the leads. The polarity is reversed depending on if you are putting the window up or down (if the motor's terminals are reversed, it goes in the opposite direction).

The innard of the P/S switch looks like this:

[-][+]

[1][2]

[+][-]

if you push the switch forward,

[-][+]
** **
[1][2]

[+][-]

the 2 leads are matched to the "down" polarity.

If you pull it back,

[-][+]

[1][2]
** **
[+][-]

They are matched to the "up" polarity.

I hope this gives you some understanding of how it works.

yea.

Do you know what the colors are that come from the drivers side and go to the passenger side.

I'll have to run a set of wires from the drivers side to the passenger side to get the driver side passenger window switch to work.

I get the dc voltage sceme. Unfortunatly both passenger window switches are broken so I won't be able to trouble shoot which wires do what until I get them replaced.

I was trying to find out what color the wires are and how many wires to run over there. So when I get the switches replaced I can just hook them up; and be done with it, since I already have all that stuff apart.

But thanks for the outline, and the quick responce.
