another is my fc dead thread (i searched!)
 

i am sorry to make another is my engine blown thread but searchin just didnt help me out.

so this morning i jumped in my car after not driving it for a few days and the add coolant light buzzer comes on as soon as i start it. since the engine was cold i quickly popped the hood and opened the coolant filler cap. it seemed to have plenty of coolant that tube. i decided to grab a bottle of coolant anyways and pull the bleed plug and add some more figuring there must be a bubble or something. i also took the time to look for bubbles under the filler cap. it all looked ok so far. a few minutes pass and before i could start adding coolant the level started to rise, still with no bubbles. i then rushed to put the cap back on before it started to over flow. it endend up over flowing a little bit then suddenly the exhaust started to make a rumbling sound instead of my normal smooth buzz and it started blowing the infamous sweet smelling white smoke. but it didnt do it for very long. in the time it took me to close the hood. the smoke was gone, the buzzer stopped, and the idle was silky smooth. figuring the motor was dead anyways i ended up driving it to work, i dont work far. it got up to the right temp and drove just fine. i even drove it around my work area for a little while hard to see what would happen and nothin.

so the question... is it dead? or did i spill coolant on something and made it angry. if it is dying does anyone think i can make it a couple months so i can save for an engine?

Let it idle for a while. If it starts to smoke from just idling, I'd say yes.

Make sure the temperature doesn't go too high or you might damage the coolant passages though. Or make the seals worse.

You may have intermittent coolant seals.

This can be fixed for about $200 if you do all the work your self... but you have to pull the engine. And pull it apart, reassemble it, and reinstall it. Not that hard...but it takes time.

the longer this thing takes to die, the more time i have to save for a turbo swap. i forgot to post that this is a na vert at the moment

went for another drive after work and no drama.
