Another generic question thread

Hey guys,

I have a bone stock, 86 manual N/A 2 stroke corvette.
Stock ported
Rebuilt 30k ago with brand new housings! Thanks previous old people owners!
Stock as hell. Even got the stock sliding equalizer to mix my deadly AM radio beats.

My goals:

To have a relatively peaky/responsive motor, sound levels are not in the equation as I really don't care... for now... annnnnd handle like a go cart, I know my suspension s**t, so i'm not asking about this..

I really want to p*ss all of the emissions crap off minus running a single cat (upwards of a 20k fine here in straya without one)
Say goodbye to the power steering,
F**k the A/c off (the air actually gets warmer??),
Say goodbye to the mini turbine looking heap of cr*p airpump and run a mini compressor to activate my VTAC on the 5/6 ports and run a gilmer drive
I understand the exhaust is a massive improvement, so I will be ideally running a racing beat true dual or two pipes collecting just before one muffler..
And I would improve the intake with shortening it a bit but retaining the stock manifold..

Can I achieve my goal of a zippy motor after taking the emissions cr*p off?

Will it improve anything besides harming the environment quicker or am I wasting my time with a stock ported motor and rip it apart for a extend port and more extensive mods?

Oh, will I get any warning lights/not running properly problems after removing this stuff with the appropriate block off plates?

170whp is the goal with the stock ecu.. or maybe run a aftermarket?

Cheers,

Indecisive rx7 owner.

the only emissions part that effects power is the cat, the rest of it all is basically off if you're on the gas more than 50%.

with the stock port, and stock S4 intake, full exhaust and ECU, you can expect it to do about 155rwhp. the S5 intake does about 10 more.

the stock ECU will keep you from making the power you are looking for. If you want to see good gains out of an NA you should consider a way to tune fuel.
The intake and exhaust will free up some power but being able to tune the car makes the most of all other modifications

Cheers brother, I shall look into a haltec unit.

Rteks are plug and play, easier than haltechs IIRC from what i've read

Find a turbo swap. Do nothing to it and youll pass that goal. Then, sell your non turbo s4 engine and get a standalone.

Hahahaha!

I want to keep it N/A, I have more belief in power that doesn't come from a compressor wheel. A rb26 or 2J would be IMO a swap worthy of a turbo conversion. Not saying turbo rotors arn't awesome in their own way...

I like N/A rotors...
