Another 6 port turbo question (intake)
 

So if i read it correctly, aron said that the LIM from a T2 wont fit on an N/A cuz the actuators are in the way. Is there a way to adapt the T2 UIM to the N/A lower? Im pretty sure you can since people are putting the FD UIM on fc's, but just need a lil clarification. Im going to put pineapple sleeves in the 5th and 6th ports and upgrade to 550cc injectors and want to do all of this together, including the T2 UIM to N/A LIM.

On this forum, theirs a member named Japan2LA that was selling a T2 LIM that was made for 6-port. Message him and see if he still has them. I saw them in the 2nd gen parts classifieds not even a month ago.

And people running the FD UIM are using either a custom spacer or the FEED spacer which is almost/over 400$.

Thanks fellas. Do you have to use a spacer to adapt an S4 T2 UIM to a S4 N/A LIM? Im looking at a budget build to compete against a friends 2500 dollar sr swap. Is there a way to run the turbo piping into the intake without using a T2 UIM?

No, the T2 UIM will not go on the N/A LIM. You just need a elbow or some sort of adapter to put the piping on the end of the N/A intake.

For 2500$, why not just buy a T2 motor and put a front mount and rtek in it and call it a day?

you would put the above modified LIM directly onto the block and use a t2 upper intake manifold.

My bad fellas, i didnt clarify my 2500 comment. A friend has a 240sx with an sr swap. Just spent 2500 on the swap. I am doing a budget build on my FC and the goal is 500 bucks. With only spending 500 bucks, i "could" create a turbo build that is capable of hanging with the 2500 sr swap. I realize that a budget turbo build is not ideal, or even something that would have any longevity, but its just to show that it can be done.


Also i really like Brian's N/A LIM set up. I think that when i get ready to build a serious 6 port turbo, that will be the way to go!

So are you going to do Aaron's idea of using a TMIC as a FMIC?

I have a stock FC and FD intercooler you can get for stupid cheap, plus shipping. :icon_tup:

$500 is not enough. you might get it running but not safely.

Ummm.... mine runs for that much. I bought the engine from someone doing an LS1 swap, sold my NA engine and trans for the price of the TII engine, made a driveshaft ($160) bought a FMIC kit ($200) and a Walbro 255lph fuel pump ($99) plus a few miscellaneous things here and there, and I was done...

You got lucky AGreen. No one would ever trade an NA engine/trans for the price of a well running T2 engine. $500 is nowhere near enough for a 6 port turbo setup, $1000 would get it done but it still wouldn't be perfect.

To the OP, I have ran both setups (NA intake/T2 intakes) and trust me when I tell you that you will do nothing but lose money if you go with the NA intakes. That was the biggest mistake I made and I probably threw away at least $500. You will not be happy with a POS stock turbo and will want to upgrade eventually. Use the TII intakes. Don't need luck, just look around a little. People sell stuff for cheap all the time just to unload it, so take advantage of it. A TII exhaust manifold and turbo can be bought for around $100. A FMIC kit can run $200, you can get 720cc injectors or larger for about $200 used, and whatever else you need can be fabbed up or bought cheap. In my case, I already had a SAFC and NGK wideband on the car.

NI Racing, there are a metric TON of threads about converting a NA to TII. Do a titles only search for 6port turbo, or NA Turbo, or something like that and read all the relevant articles. I guarantee it will answer your questions, and then some.

i have a s4 t2 intake manifold that was made by a friend of mine that he modded to fit the 6 port engine. the 3rd and 4th ports were port opened up to make room for the 5th and 6th ports. As a bonus the t2 throttle body was modded to use the NA throttle cable, which seems to have given the acceleration a more crisp response than a t2 cable. I have just purchased a fd intake, having just learned how to make the s6 lim fit on a 6 port block. : ) needless to say my t2 manifold may be up for grabs soon. pm me if you are interested.

I turbod my N/A 6 port. All manifolds are original. High comprssion rotors with 8lbs of boost. Ran 12.76 @ 109 mph. I did use and adapter (pictured) for the throttle body to the intake pipe.
