am i running rich or is it just my exhaust?

I gutted the cats on my 88 gxl, and then recently took off my mufflers, haha it was my cheap solution to maing my car sound meaner.. but now it smells like its burning rich, i never noticed it untill after i tookoff the mufflers.. anybody know whats going on?

You're gonna smell some gas on a NA w/o any cats or mufflers, must sound horrible anyways.

These cars naturally run rich, and it just gets worse when you open up the exhaust.

The one time I ran my TII with the downpipe disconnected, I thought I was going to have a migraine within a couple minutes. Not to mention the fact that at low rpm it sounds like crap. Get some aftermarket mufflers if you want it to sound "meaner," but use something....anything.

besides it sounding/looking like crap that heat is just radiating in the back of your car..not that bad for short period of time but come on man, i feel for you and the other drivers noses and throats having to follow you

zachCutthroat FcDrifter 04-29-08 07:34 PM

haha anybody know any good exhaust system thats cheap?..
i've been saving up for it, but i'm quite broke

blackedoutFC3S 04-29-08 11:15 PM

go with corksport if you want cheap... not too expensive and doesnt sound that bad either.

Just put some better mufflers back on it, or just a single one for even cheaper, if the y-pipe is gone/messed up.

thanks guys!
what if i just buy a muffler and go to a muffler shop and have them bend me some pipes?
would that be a good idea?
cause i just want one beasty muffler, and rightnow ive still got the whole y-pipe setup and gutted cats.. should i just get them to straightpipe it all the way back and put a muffler on?

zachCutthroat FcDrifter 04-30-08 03:14 PM

maybe a muffler like this?
