alternator wiring question

Ok, so while working on other stuff and re-assembling, the plug that goes into the back of the alternator broke off; both wires.

The problem is that the insulation crumbled off the wires when they broke and I can't tell which color goes to which pin.

Haynes says that BW[E] goes to A-02, but also says WB[E] goes to the same one (though in the diagram it is on the other side of the alternator symbol). Then B[E] goes to A-03.

Anyone know which pins on the alternator are A-02 and A-03?

Also, what does the [E] designation mean?

Thanks!

S4 or S5?

Hi Satch,
Actually, it's an S4 (AE) and I got it figured out.

The FSM (available online) explains it better and I understand now that A-02 denotes the two-pin connector and A-03 is the single wire that goes to the insulated terminal - FSM calls it "B".

So, for the record, the black wire goes to the horizontal pin (when the connector is viewed with the catch upward, or on top) and the vertical pin goes to the white/black wire. The FSM calls those terminals on the alternator "R" and "L" respectively.

thanks for your input! (ready to fire it up now!)
