alternator wiring

Ok I'm in the middle of re-wwire the entire car, but I have a question...

The S terminal on the Alternator can go to the battery, no?
What about the L terminal? Where would I need to wire it too?

Your battery terminal on the alternator can go back to your battery positive lead. Usually S-terminal realates to the solenoid control terminal in your starter. As for the L terminal im not exactly sure, i belive it runs back to a ignition switch which would send current to your alternator, ill try to figure out how exactly you would wire the L terminal.

ON a series five it goes to a relay in the Warning/Auto Clock assy in the middle of your dash using a White/Black wire.

here is a diagram this should help

i have no problems with this except that i reversed the connections at the alternator and i was gettting 15.5 volts and ended up burning up my headlight swithc and a few fuses. just make sure you have a multimeter there testing the battery when you get this hooked up .. if your seeing more than 15v
something is wrong

Nice diagram Always, but what about for a custom wiring situation?

The L post does nothing but make the warning lights come on before crank?

If that is the case is it cool to run without it?

Can I run my car safely without the L terminal hooked to anything?
