i have a turbo II with a bad alternator. i have a new mitsubishi alternator that i had gotten for free and i was wondering if i can replace the old one with mitsubishi one. they look exactly the same. they have the same plug inlets and everything but just a differrent brand.
any sugesstions will help thanx......... |
Our alternators ARE made my mitsubishi foo. :D

They are Mitsubishi.
Are you sure everything is the same? The mount? The pulley? I suppose you can try it and see if it works (alternator replacement is easy), but I wouldn't be totally worry-free during the install, when you got it for free and it just kinda looks like it's the same. |
yea im new to the rx7 thanx for the info cuz i diddnt even know that....

mitsubishi makes the vast majority of electrical parts for most japanese cars. nissan, toyota, honda, subaru, and mazda all have mitsubishi electrical componets on them.

Yeah, good luck finding one if that one ends up not being right. A couple weeks ago mine crapped out and it took 3 days for me to find one.
|
I found 3 the day I suspected mine of failing.
You can get yours rebuilt for a decent price, too. If you are unable to find one, I suggest speaking with silverrotor about an FD alternator. They bolt up, all you have to do is modify the harness plug and add a 4 - 6 gauge cable from the alternator output post to the battery positive. Simple stuff, and the alternator goes a long way. :) |
