ok, I did try searching and didn't find anything that solved my problem, but with my rex the timing light was having problem picking up L1 and T1 and it isn't self powered. We pulled out the plugs and put them by the ground so they arced and then the ligth would pick them up, so we put them back in and replaced the coils/igniters but now L1 gets picked up but not T1. It almost seems like the engine isn't a good enough ground or something. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

oh, and in case it matters, the engine is running like crap, so I think it has something to do with this and some other things, but I would just like to get this fixed first because it's the only problem for sure that I know of.

Grab the pickup for the timing light and press the sparkplug wire on each face of it. The pickup on mine is larger than the wire, so sometimes it doesnt make a good connection and flickers on and off, or just doesnt work. Something to think about.

try changing the plugs first. fouled plugs won't show up on a timming light.

Thats what I was just thinking. Fouled plugs would satisfy both requirements of poor running and no light on the gun. IF the plug is fouled badly enough, the arc never happens because the resistance between ground and coil is too great, and with no arc there is no pulse from the light.

yeah we switched the plugs around from ones that picked up and ones that didn't and it didn't make a difference so I don't know...will keep "fiddling"

Have you checked the cables themselves yet?

but I don't know how much it has to do with this...here there isn't anyone that I have heard of that knows rotaries at all so I am a little skeptical and a little cheap :) to take it there and you people here know more than I could ever dream of...

but FYI...replaced spark plugs, wires two weeks ago when we bought it....BUT there was about 4 or 5 days where we didn't know about the fuel cut off switch so it was flooded, but we pulled out the spark plugs and cleaned them

the light picks up the cables though when you take off that dust cap and put it by those screws and make it arc between them...so I'm wondering if it isn't firing in the engine?

if the car was flooded buy new plugs. you *can* ruin them in a day... my friend had the same problem. plugs 2 days old. car wouldn't start and flooding trying to set up haltech. no timming light shows up. new plugs got light and car starts.

ok, we had two sets of plugs and we put in a lead plug in the trail one and it worked so I guess I need to get some more plugs...also I just unplugged the BAC valve and it didint' make a difference so Haynes says it is busted so I will change that and see if it fixes it
