Air Pump bolts
I've spent over an hour twisting out the broken end of the long bolt in my air pump while mounted on the engine to be able to remove the pump out. I got it out and took out the pump. Now I'm left with drilling out the short bolt which both were broken 2 years ago. I've been trying to look where to get the same bolts but I find ones either too short or too long. I just want to make sure of the sizes again. I think the long bolt is M8 - 1.25 x 62mm (somewhere around that length from the 2 pieces that I have put together ) and I have no idea what size the short bolt is since I only have the small broken piece stuck in the pump. Anyone know where I can get them from? I checked around online but haven't ran into anything that would match.

just google fasteners in new jersey.
or most automotive shops will have an assortment of bolts and nuts that they've saved over the years. or there's the dealer. dorman also replicates just about any oe bolt out there. available through most autoparts stores. or you can go to an autowreckers and probably find what you need laying on the ground |
Measure the flange on the airpump and add 10mm or so. Then add the approx. thickness of any washers you may use.
They are just standard JIS 8mm x 1.25 bolts, even Ace carries them (although if you go to Ace, you'll likely end up with 8mm bolts with 13mm- instead of JIS spec 12mm- heads. No biggie, but I hate that). |
Ok thanks and what do you mean add about 10mm after measuring the flange? Measure the diameter of the hole and add 10mm onto the diameter to be the length? Would zinc plated bolts be good or is there something better to use?

Um, no.
I may be confused, have any pics of this disaster? |

The metric ones i sell at my ace (work there) are grade 8, but, that means nothing, it depends on WHO they get their fasteners from, mine carries midwest fastner.
Just look on the box when your buying the bolt, tells the grade right there |

Got the bolts and put the air pump back on with new belt 2 days ago and it's running well.
