Air in my radiator....

ok i figure this might be a bad sign. i replaced the thermometer the other day cuase i was getting air in my radiator and the car was slightly over heating then today i rplaced the cap thinking it might be some kind of leek but wasn't counting on it anyone have any ideas as to how i can stop it or is it worse than i thought? *note that i have been letting the air out through the bleeder screw at the top of the raidiator*

If you run the car with the radiator cap off (when it's cold), do you get air bubbles coming out of it? If so, it's rebuild time.

Check your hoses - if they're going bad, they might have a pinhole leak that lets air in as the system cools.

i'm sure it's the water jacket the only prob is that i don't have the money for a rebuild.....

Well, technically, you could get away with just new o-rings... May as well do the rest while you're in there though.

Well then replace the water jacket-

Does your car smoke white? Does the coolant smell like gas?

If the waterjacket was shot- you would generaly see water leaking, esp when hot.

ya it does smoke white and every so often it does smell like coolent i think but haven't seen the last part...

Oh no fun.

Go read the faq and do the tests listed....

Sounds like your coolant seals in the motor are goin bye bye....

Bubbles and coolant smelling steam (white smoke) from the exhuast are sure signs :(.
