aftermarket radiators

Hey folks, does anyone have any aftermarket radiators? I'm looking to get a KOYO and I would like to be sure I get the best deal possible....Let me know...Thx

hondahater 09-21-04 02:41 PM

yeah koyo seems to be the best deal for the person that is not going to hardcore draging the car with 1000hp. It's for the average joe that might have anywhere from 150 to I'd say about 450hp. I bought mine from www.absoluteradiator.com from a damn good price and it comes with a fan shroud mounting kit for free. All you have to do is use your side straps from the original radiator and of course all the sensors but other than that it is a direct swap. oh also it cools very well my guage doesn't go pas 1/4 of the way up the gauge even under heavy boost.

I have a Koyo, and I think it is more than adequate for any HP goal you would attain on a street car. Just need to make sure you have proper ducting and everything else is up to par. Shoot I remember 1FastT2 was making ~415RWHP and running mid 11s on the stock rad, with the huge greddy front mount blocking it, and he never reported any cooling problems. Not saying Id recommend that, but still...

Yep. I remember that.

To bad what happened to that car. The next owner killed it.

The koyo is a great radiator. The thing is a lot thicker with much better density than the stock radiator and is relatively easy to drop in. as I recall, I had to cut off a little bit of my lower hose and use some spacers for the fan shroud (provided by absolute radiator) but other than that, it all was drop in and has every fitting that a stock one does. It also has a cap on it so you'll need to block it off. Beyond that, it's a VERY nice looking radiator and seems to get few complaints. Go for it.

hey SDrotary.....are those including shipping or not including shipping?

How does the Fluidyne compare to the Koyo?

I saw the car at the Tristate RX-7 picnic over the summer. The paint looked like ass, the hood was gone, the owner smoked and had cig butts all over the car, the engine was smoking REAL BAD, and it wouldn't idle.

Made me sad to see it.

I have the K2RD radiator, but I dont think its being made anymore...:(

ilike2eatricers 09-21-04 09:16 PM

if you are interested in the k2rd radiator go to www.2751engineering.com and send Seth an email. He is an authorized dealer of k2rd products and might be able to get them for you if they are still made.

i did a post here acouple people said the fluidyne radiator is just alittle better then the koyo most people suggested the koyo only because its a very good radiator for that cheap

Eternal_Gamer 09-21-04 11:22 PM

I got the fluidyne. Its a fat azz thick mofo. Haven't test it yet tho, cuzz my car has recently been swapped, but still need to connect all the vacuum hoses.

91mazdarx7 09-22-04 09:49 AM

are you using the stock radiator first then put in the fluidyne later on i would be interested to see how different the fluidyne cools

95R2-89TII Ground Zero 09-22-04 09:57 AM

Koyo will be the best for the price, otherwise you could get a fluidyne for the spray painted name on it for about $200-$300 more.

604Ryder 09-22-04 10:00 AM

why would u want your radiator to have FLUIDYNE sprayed on it. i would rather have a clean look

Because when FLUIDYNE is painted on there it cools like 30% better :D
Because fluidyne radiators are respectable. IMHO
Matt:)

i can get the fluidyne , PWR and Koyo, for the money you can't beat a Koyo IMO

Ni5mo180SX 09-22-04 11:53 AM

I've heard continous rumors of the early Koyos having an incorrectly machined pressure cap seat. Mine has gone through 2 OEM caps and 1 aftermarket and am now waiting to claim the warranty on a new one. They say the problem has since been corrected.
