After a year of not driving. Pics Inside!

Well, After a year of not driving the car.. and after maybe about 3 times I had to remove the upper intake manifold. It's running like a champ. I took the UIM to do the rats nest removal a while back so I figured I'd do a few more things. At the same time I wanted to:
- remove rats nest and keep twin scroll
- add oil catch can
- port the wastegate
- perform the throttle body mod w/ thermowax removed.
- change vacccum lines to silicone
- upgrade radiator w/ E-Fan
- upgrade the turbo back (my old setup was too loud)
- change waterpump, thermostat, replace all coolant hoses

Took me basicly a year. I ran into money issues in the middle of everything so I had a lot of parts missing and wasn't able to put it together. So I drove an old beater cougar for a year. When you drive a 88 Cougar for a year, going back to the RX7 feels good. Right now, I'm currently doing a custom box in the storage bin out of fiberglass. I know people said the bins is not a good place to put the subs but I'm going to try with fiberglass. I'm planning to run 1 10' so I'm pretty sure I have enough space. I'll be working on it tomorrow and will post process pics. I have a good friend that is going to help me out. Well, I'll update the process tomorrow night. Mean time, I'll post some pics.

I have the bigger versions of the pics. It's a lot clearer but I didnt want the 56k people to suffer.

I need to get a better alternator. My charging voltage drops to 12.3 when idling at night with headlights on, efan on. I'm planning to run some subs so I will need a FD alternator. ::Hint Hint:: silverrotor :)

Looks clean, sorry it took you so long to get it all done but it makes it all the sweeter right :)

GTR 11-28-04 01:42 AM

yeah.. it was worth it .

bad ass

GTR 11-28-04 02:56 AM

Thanks. I'm pretty sure theres a lot of cars in here that look better but I'm happy with mine. Hopefully, I can get an engine rebuild soon.

Your car runs OK with the AFM angled that way? Don't you get some hesitations ?

mazdadude 11-28-04 09:15 AM

hey what kind of strut bar is that?

darkphantom 11-28-04 09:21 AM

LOOKING NICE. BTW you have any interior pictures, i am trying to detail my interior and need some images to decide what im going to do

Parastie 11-28-04 11:30 AM

I would have left the IC surround on, it's suppose to help force the air through the IC.

Actually, I expected hesitations but Its fine. Runs good. If any hesitations, I would say I'll probably get from my TB mod.

The strut bar is a ebay one I got a while back. I will have pics of the interior soon. I just need to upload them to my computer. Basicly, The box structure is pretty much set. We just need to lay about two more layers to be safe. I'll post some pics in a little bit. I have to wait til my girlfriend gets off her computer. The disk reader is on her computer.

As for the IC surround, I wanted to keep it on but it was so beat up.. So I just took it off. I honestly, do not feel any difference. Maybe the intake temps are higher now, but I plan on a front mount in the future. So its not really a big bother to me.

Dude, you need to level out that AFM. She may run good now, but sooner or later the door is going to hang up on you. I know it's a PITA to fit her in correctly with the cone, but it can be done.

looks like they are coming along pretty nice

digitalsolo 11-29-04 09:21 PM

How are you sealing the sub into the box? Looks like there is a gap between the top of the "box" and the fiberglass plates that make up the rear "seat" area.

REFLUX 11-29-04 11:48 PM

where did you route the hoses for the catch can???

I thought open atmosphere was the way to go if emissions isn't required...

very nice though!

GTR 11-30-04 08:07 PM

I will be using weatherstriping and drilling every three inches to seal the box.

Its routed to the nipple coming from the block and to the EVAP nipple from the fuel tank. If I open atmosphere.. it just makes a mess :)

GTR 12-12-04 11:57 PM

the box is done.. it sounds great. everything sealed up fine.. well.. heres the pics.

where?? AND are those stock door panels?? how big speakers fit...sorry for bad engrish..studying for finals.

GTR 12-13-04 12:13 AM

Sorry, files were too big. Anyways, the doorpanel is actually from the S5 model. I took my old 90 N/A parts car door panel and trimmed the lower portion to fit my S4 one. They fit 5 1/4 speakers. not big but still decent. I'm gonna try to make a custom fiberglass one to hold 6.5.. but now i'm planning to do the other side of the bin. It sounds really good. I had doubts due to the experiences from other members but I knew it would sound good because I haven't seen them use fiberglass. I highly recommend this.
