after changing the waterpumo car doesnt turnover

Hey guys so I changed the waterpump on the car. Turned it on and right away the coolant buzzer went in and the engine wanted to turn on but didn't.

After pouring some water in the coolant tower and notice the water was pouring back out behind the water pump. Looks to be a small piping that once connected to a hose and I think that might be the problem.

I took a pic .
Any suggestions

that hose connects to the BAC valve on the side of the UIM, look around for the misplaced hose, it should be there somewhere.. as for the no start, is your tachometer bouncing during crankng? if not then you may have disconnected the CAS and not gotten it plugged back in.

Karack: would BACK valve hose cause it not to turn on....? Cause one of the times that I turned it on the car had a loud shaking knocking noise. Something it had never done

Your tach is not bouncing so check the EGI fuse along with the CAS as suggested by Karack, and lastly did you mess with the engine ground upon working on the car?

thejallenator 09-23-10 07:42 PM

that doesnt sound good...

durtled 09-23-10 08:01 PM

the 3rd time he went to start it i swear the tach bounced

rnz520 09-23-10 08:21 PM

yea he got a bounce the third time. Pull plugs out and turn over by hand, listen for compression pulses.

When you removed the waterpump, you may have broken the seal on the back of the water pump housing to the front iron. That could be the source of your coolant leak if it wasn't the hose coming off of the water pump housing.

Did you check for vacuum leaks/ AFM plug/ loose wiring connections that you might have messed with when you swapped water pumps?

thejallenator 09-23-10 10:27 PM

out of curiosity howd you take the pulleys off? the four little bolts or the one big bolt?

illustrated_FC 09-23-10 10:29 PM

I didn't mention that when I was removing the water pump, the 02 sensor female connector from engine the hardness broke. So I took a wire and stripped the wires and joined them. Maybe that could be it??

Are you talking about the Water Thermosensor?

illustrated_FC 09-23-10 11:21 PM

No the o2 sensor thats connected to my headers.

I'm thinking because that hose is not connected the its setting off a sensor and its not making it turned on

I believe the oxygen sensor is for emissions only and not related to the starting of the car. And what hose are you talking about? Also, the water thermosensor located off the back of the waterpump needs to connected properly or it would contribute to flooding the engine. And did you by chance check the EGI fuse and while your at it check the interior Engine fuse as it takes but a few moments.

illustrated_FC 09-24-10 09:30 AM

So I found the hose and connected but that doesn't seem to be the problem.

I tired turning it on again today and nothing. I did notice the ...
1.tachometer bouncing
2.after 3rd try that coolant buzzer went on.
3. Checked the interior engine fuse( which was fine) how would I know if the EGI fuse is bad?

Could it be my alternater? Everything was working fine before I did this job.

How would the car sound if its flooded...could that be it?

12AllWays 09-24-10 09:58 AM

Yes it sounds badly flooded. On the front driver strut tower there is a fuse block with a labeled black cover on it. Pull the egi fuse and crank the car with the pedal to the floor for maybe 5 seconds, then replace the egi fuse and start the car. You may have to give a little throttle and you may have to rev to keep it running at first, depending on how flooded it is.

RotaryEvolution 09-24-10 12:39 PM

it sounds to me like

a) the timing is off somehow

or

b) the car was severely overheated when the water pump let go and is leaking water into the engine causing it to only want to fire off one rotor.

illustrated_FC 09-24-10 05:57 PM

12allway: do I replace it like buying a new one or just simply putting it back the same fuse.

Karack: I mean the car was perfectly fine before all this

With key to on if the Black/Yellow wire at either coil has voltage then the EGI fuse is good.

illustrated_FC 09-24-10 09:09 PM

Okay I'm going to try that.

Why would you think that coolant buzzer kept coming on while I was turning on the car.

maybe the car hasn't turned on and water hasn't traveled around the engine...my theory

The low coolant sensor is located on top of the radiator and measures the fluid level in the radiator and not the engine block.

illustrated_FC 09-25-10 10:20 PM

Thanks a lot. It worked !

The rx was completely flooded. I did the procedure as mentions above and worked great.

But I'm still getting the "add coolant buzzer" which is sooo annoying. I filled the radiator all the way with water and its still going off. When i accelerate it for a bit it stops...idk what this could be, maybe my coolant sensor is bad ?
