AFR and Variable Resistor

I have been trying to adjust my afrs via the variable resistor on my na s4(with s5 upper intakes) I'm monitoring the afrs with a uego and so far at idle I get around 13.6 but on heavy acceleration I'm between 11 and 12 but while I cruise I'm bouncing between 15-18 . Which is rather lean and I am all set with detonation . My attempts with the variable resistor have not changed it at all . Any Ideas on this or suggestions ? Another issue I am having is with Idle . Before I started the intake swap I had ground issues and tons of vaccum leaks ( some one used a cereal box for lower to upper intake gasket no joke ) and the lim gasket was in 3 pieces as well as having a junk egr . There was no idle although the car ran fine. Now that its back together and no leaks it still doesn't want to idle . The screw on the tb broke so I have the dashpot acting as the idle control . Any ideas would be great thank you

The variable resistor only adjusts idke mixture.....which could be why your idle is crap now.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYz...QHCLOkj14xDx5A this is it idling . Only its idle is controlled by the dashpot instead of the idle screw .

Doesn't the dashpot relate to the secondary throttle plates that are usually closed when idling? And your idle adjust screw broke? Is this an NA?

Yes to the na question no to the dashpot . Dashpot slows the throttle plates so the car doesn't stall after higher rpms . Its a dampener

So, the head of the adjust screw broke off and the remaining part is still threaded into the dynamic chamber?

I thought the dashpot rested against the secondary throttle plates and not the primary throttle plate and it prevented the engine from stalling due to its ability to prevent the secondary plates from closing too quickly and not the primary plate. The dashpot is set to release from the throttle lever in which it rests upon at speeds over 3k and not below so it should not be having an affect below that level thus it is not to have an affect on the idle speed at all. No? Thus when using the dashpot to adjust idle it is doing so because you are opening the set of secondary plates which are supposed to be fully closed when the car is in idle mode. The primary plates are able to open to some degree before these secondary plates start to budge open which then means the airflow into the engine is increased by forcing open these secondary plates before it is required.

As its an na the screw is on the tb . Half the head broke off . As for daspot no , the secondary plates could close instantly , it won't cause the car to stall . Think when secondaries open . The dashpot does what you say but to the primary throttle plate . Which is why I'm using it as my idle screw
