AFM by VENOM PYTHON?????
http://www.nopionline.com/index.cfm?...20Flow%20Meter
Well i was browsing the nopi online parts store and came across this venom makes performance products so does anyone have this and is it an upgrade? |
Holy cow, I hope this is a real upgrade option. If it is, I will be ordering one immediately.
|
I think it may just be a rebuilt/refurbed stock AFM. It would be worth investigating, though.

umm...with no picture or detailed info, i dont think so. but then what do you expect from Nopi...
|
it just may be a rebuilt one cause it askes for a core back
|
no matter what, if it works its certainly better than this:

I can't imagine what they could possibly do to a stock AFM to make it better...but you never know...
Altough I think people put too much thought into the AFM. It doesn't become a restriction until you start making some pretty high HP (or upgrade the turbo). AFM upgrades on NAs would be nearly pointless. |
Yeah true but its still the idea of less restriction and more hp even if its like fucking .5 hp i also just got back form nopi and a comp called pro-flow said they could increase my afm flow by 50 percent --wtf if so thats awesome did not say how much they wanted but hey whatever for those that dont know NOPI nationals kicks major ass and i love the fact that its only 2 hours from my house peace

The AFM is a bigger restriction on n/a's than TII's. Not to mention its also a big restriction after just a few mods. Im maxing out the AFM on my 90 GTU with only bolt ons. The block is stock. |
I still think that you cant get that much more out of the stock afm a turboII afm is a good upgrade does anyone know how much the 91-95 mr2 turbo afm flows because it is the same kind but a little bigger if not the same size and i think that could be a good swap
|
The 92-95 or so 929 has the same type MAF as the S5 FC's, but its a good bit bigger. Not quite sure just how the signals compare though. Im still waiting on dave to try the AFM in his 91 vert.
|
ive heard of someone trying to figure out how to adapt the cosmo AFM to an FC.. but i never heard where he got with it. my advice: save the $250 and put it towards a haltech. that way you can get rid of the AFM completely.

Well hurry up Mazdaspeed so we can know whats up! Ive been hearing about this for to long with no results. I seriously dont want to tune a freaking haltec just to get rid of my AFM.
|
Mazdaspeed what about the mx6 with the kl03 v6 it is a 2.5 litre motor and i know the 929 is a 3.0 litre motor does it still outflow the mx6 ?

How do you know you're maxing out the AFM?
Hell, I can't max out Tina's AFM... |
The is nothing on there site either. http://www.venom-performance.com/

Originally posted by mazdaspeed7 I have a test connector added to the wiring harness, oen of the leads is the AFM signal lead. The voltage drops as airflow increases. I dont remember the exact reading, but it was the same if you pushed the plunger in all the way and looked at the voltage. But this is on a S5. I am pretty sure S4's dont have the same problem, but I know at least one other person who is also maxing out the AFM on their S5 n/a. BTW - it is a 91 NA I/H/E |
From talking to a local rotary shop with 20+ years experience, they were able to put out over 200whp on an S5 with stock port and single exhaust. The afm got scrapped for a perfectly tuned ems. I think 40+whp over what some of us are putting on the dyno is worth the extra $1300.
|
By getting rid of the afm and using a standalone computer you can get at least 10% more hp on an n/a alone due to the increased flow. The area of the afm door is less than the total throttle plate area. Definitely get rid of it.

I think you're just maxing out the reading, not the AFM's flow capacity. Remember that quite a number of cars in Japan are pulling over 400 HP on the stock AFM.
