AEM vs. Haltech and Haltech Plug and Play Kit questions

What do you guys or girls think? I'm partial to the Haltech just because its been around longer and is proven to work in our cars. But what are the differences? Also, they have a plug and play wire harness for the Haltech at K2RD and I was wondering what sensors should be upgraded and if you could still use that kit and stock wiring, but just switch sensors?

holy crap. when did that harness plug come out?? that's pretty sweet. I don't know how well it would work with the stock sensors.... but that's alot easier then installing one!

Yeah I just found out too. I was wondering if you could use it to use the stock wiring but with different sensors?

Got it installed yet?

This is something I'm totally against on a plug&play harness, especially for 1986-1988 Zenki FC3S.&nbsp These harnesses are, literally, falling apart and depending on a good connection is asking for trouble.

Personally, I would rather install a brand new (Haltech) harness - that way I'm sure the wires and connections are in good shape.

well if the engine has never been pulled the harness is probably ok. and if the engine has been pulled, chances are you'll do the haltech at the same time, in which case you'd use the haltech harness. the biggest problems I see are the 86-88 tps, and the 15psi stock boost sensor if you want to run more.

personal I wouldn't use it, because half the reason of getting the haltech is to rip all the useless crap out from under the hood :)

you talking about the Haltech one (which I've heard was pretty much crap) or the K2RD PNP?
I thought he meant the K2RD
