Adjusting rear camber?
 

I just got new tires and i want to correct the rear camber. From a few thread i read from the suspension forum the FC's rear end has no camber adjustment. (if yes please tell me). So what can i do to correct that problem. SHould i get new suspension bushing, get a camber link, new springs?? I am limit on money but i will welcome any advise. Thank you in advance!

Just pick up a on-car ajustable rear camber link. about $80. When you take the car in for alignment, tell the clown that's doing it, that there's one on it.

You can modify your stock rear subframe link or purchase one from Mazdatrix. They carry two, one costing approx $100 I believe and the other is $130

How do you mod the stocker. The only way I can think of off hand, is welding in some extra bar. I payed $80 for mine from demonspeed. BUT..... DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!!!! They WILL rip you off. I've seen other places sell them for about that price. I can check if you like.....

It was suggested to me that its possble to just tap & thread it and go about using the same design as others from there on out (lock nuts, etc)

Yes. Mazdatrix with the on car adjustment. I have the racing beat remove to adjust. and TELL the Clown as HIMNI RACING says - Just do it - by pulling up or pushing down on the rear subframe where the original equipment vertical link is located, negative camber can be reduced or increased. mazdatrix.com fcstore.com rxecret7.com $80 - $130 : )

My co-driver just returned from his shop with this fab'd link from the original off the car. Simple enough and it works. We'd consider selling them on an exchange basis if they're were enough interest.

If you have never changed the springs to aftermarket ones...and the car has a camber problem, I'd suspect that the springs are shot and that's why the cars camber is ascew. New springs will bring it back into spec.
Old age and worn out shock struts will damage the springs which in turn effect camber.

well, for me, it is a bent lateral link that is making my camber bad. The funny thing is a oem replacement from victoriabirtish is more expensive than adjustable mazdatrix units!!!!

A high speed drift and than into a curb at 70kmh does wonders for camber adjustments.

Actually it's obvious, you tap, weld, and thread the center piece on. Use left thread for one half and opposit the other so you can adjust it on the car. I'm not giving up all my secrets.

thats what I was think, but are the links perfectly round, they look kind of oval when I am on my back under the car? I have some nice heavy duty aluminum sleeves, do you think they will be strong enuff?

A lateral link is not the part that adjusts camber. See SUSPENSION in the FSM. Pictures galore.

what do you mean, that is where I was looking. That is what it was called in the FSM. What else would adjust camber?

Anyone have an OBX rear camber correction link? My friend just ordered one for around $15-20 and we'll check it out when it comes in. (We're not expecting much though since OBX makes crappy products.)

There are two lateral links. They run from the hubs to the subframe in a diagonal fashion. They have ball joints on each end. They do not adjust camber.

There is a piece called a sublink. The sublink connects to the subframe on its bottom end and the chassis on its top end. The original is not adjustable. The one from Mazdatrix is adjustable. The aftermarket sublink is how you can adjust camber. See the 87FSM, chapter 13, page 13-25

A bent lateral link will effect the toe in.

There are two lateral links.

I purchased the 2 Mazdatrix adjustable sub links. Quality piece, work great, and even have grease fittings. A little pricey though. It's been a while, but I think $175 for both.

I guess you are right and I am not. But from all the diagrams I can not make sense of how the sublink makes any difference to camber at all. I am pretty new to trying to understand suspension geometry. So bare with me please.
