adjusting my ground control coilovers
 

Hey,
how can I change the height in my coil overs?
Does the car have to be jacked up?
How many perch do I need?

To adjust the height, I think it depends on the brand of coil-over as to whether or not there's a set-screw (usually an allen bolt) that needs to be backed off...

This will be on the lower spring perch (adjustment collar)... Most collars have slots machined in that you use a special wrench to turn the collar... Should be able to turn by hand, I would think... Most places that sell coil-over kits should also have a universal wrench for a few bucks.

I'm not sure, but it seems to me that it would be easier to adjust the collars with the car jacked, cuz then you wouldn't be working against all the weight on that corner of the car.

The main question is, are you just trying to lower your car, or are you corner-weighting it?

If you're just looking for a lower ride, then all you need to do is park on the most level piece of ground you can find, adjust one corner to the ride-height you want, then measure from the center of the hub to the top of the wheel-arch, and adjust the other side to match.

If you're trying to adjust your corner weights, then you need a set of scales... When the car is on the scales, have the amount of gas that you'll normally run, and be sitting in the driver's seat while someone else makes the adjustments.

And I have no idea how many fish you'll need to accomplish this...

Are your coilovers dual height adjustable? Meaning you can adjust the ride height from the spring perch as well as the shock body? Maybe that's why your car is so low. I dont know anything about the GC's though.

If you're running ground controls you've just got a lower perch/collar. You probably only have 8 inch tall springs and are too low, you could try running a keeper/helper spring, or a 10 inch spring. Either way that will give you some more adjustment.

A stiffer spring will get you a higher ride height. Changing from a 350# to 450# spring in the front will get you an additional 1/2 inch.

But you really should take the car to someone who can set the corner weights and ride height properly. The car will handle much better if you do. If you don't do this right the car could handle like a can of worms - and in some cases be dangerous.
