Adjusting a 2nd Gen Vert Seat?
Is there any way to widen the driver seat a bit? What i mean is that the bottom of the seat has two metal(i assume) bars in it meant to hold your ass in the seat, but if your butt's a bit bigger than a gnat, then you don't fit.
is there any way to spread the bars out a bit so its a little more comfortable? |
what are you trying to say? make the seat itself wider?? or the rails? Try looking into aftermarket seats that fit your butt.....or if you can't find any you can always lose a few pounds.....I know I need to.
|
I'm not overweight or anything.. (well, i could probably drop a few pounds, but not that many). I'm 6'3 ~210lbs. The seat itself is wide enough -- but the metal inside of the padding just needs to be pushed out a bit. Maybe 2" would make the difference...

oh.....so the metal is hitting your butt?? have you thought about reupholstering the seat? maybe the cushioning part is worn out and needs to be revived?

Sooooo, how do we recushin the seats? |
For me, its not a matter of cushioning... in fact, the car only has 29k miles on it, so they look perfect. Instead, there are two bars right under the side-pads that are meant to hold you inthe seat. I guess ill just have to take them out and try to figure it out myself...

hmmmmmmmmmm 29K miles..........

If you can feel the bars, the cushioning is shot and needs to be replaced. You should be able to sit on the side of the seat and not feel the side bars.
I suppose you could bend them a little, but more than just a little and you start having clearance issues with the door and center consol. And perhaps you are more used to a less supportive seat, as found on many american cars and economy cars, because I am 6'2" and a good 215lbs so I have by no means a small ass (some would say I have quite a big ass- or is that that I am a big ass... never could get that straight) anyway I find the FC seat quite roomy. Remember those side cushions are to keep you in the seat while cornering. |
Those rails are holding the left seat bolsters in place. There is no adjustment, but if you take the seat apart, you can bend them and move the bolsters further away. Unfortunately, after you do that, the bolsters will no longer 'bolster' and in fact may become flat.
|
ok good to know... i just need to ben them a little bit, and hopefully it wont cause too many long term problems.
(i am indeed used to a larger seat -- i drive a dodge truck most of the time) |
