ACT clutch install trouble
 

i put in my ACT heavy duty PP and street disc and my tranny is all in and stuff but I dont have enough room in the fork to put my slave cylinder in... I can move the fork on the tranny forward but not much back because the pressure of the pressure plate, and it doesnt give me enough room to put my slave in.. its almost enough room but not quite. I dont know how to get it to fit in there. the slave is pushed all the back in.

i was thinkin' of changing clutch myself but im gonna have someboduy do it for me!!

Im a mechanic, I do clutches all the time. We havent had anyone want a performance clutch and have never had this problem before.

To fix the problem I grinded the shaft that goes into the slave cylinder and it fixed the problem.

You should not have had to grind the shaft down to make it fit. I installed an ACT 6-puck with HD pressure plate and the slave fit in there just fine.
We did not connect the clutch line until after the slave was bolted down and seated properly. Also, are you sure that the shaft was all the way back? Sometimes the old slave cylinders can get stuck and it seems like it is all the way back. The only other thing that I can think of is that you were using a turbo slave cylinder with an N/A car. IIRC the turbo slave cylinder has a longer shaft than the N/A one. I do not think this is a likely answer for why it did not fit though.

I did this myself and had no problems. Perhaps you may want to attach the slave before you tighten the bellhousing bolts down, if theres not enough room? I dont exactly understand the problem.
