accident in the vert.. I think it is not worth fixing now

Ok guys what do u think? I got in a front end colision today and it seemed ok, it drove etc but when I got home I popped the hood and well it starts as this.

the frt bumper is smashed in and seperated and will need to be replaced.

both ftp are busted out

the hood is bent and pushed back I will need a hood and a hood hinge and to have the mounting point bent back

both headlights are pushed over and mis-aligned.. both cath when going up or down.

the frame between the bumper and the radiator support is bent on the pasenger side causing the coolant bottle to get stuck and causing the bumper to be misaligned I would have yto have that straitened and hope it comes out good

the car does drive however I noticed a noise form the front wnd while driving it home on the highway.

here is the deal. this car was meant to be for my wife but she has only drivin it once and I drive the coupe on the weekend and put money into it and drive the vert for a daily..

the vert has the following problems (besides the front damage):

ripped top
ripped seats
idle surge
miselanious dents (all fixable)
needs an auto trans (makes noise no OD etc (I have the trans but I dont know of the condition)
158K on the s5 engine

my thought are I can use this car for parts on my coupe, 5 lug swap, tails, miselanious interior pieces, have an engine to rebuild etc and sell off the rest..

what do u guys think. should I try and fix it or not..

the plans for this car was to make it a beauty queen.. I know it has an auto it was gonna stay auto and n/a but I wanted a BEAUTY vert.. however I am afraid with the bent front end it will never be "perfect" enough to be a bueaty queen..

pics below what do u think?

I say pull the bumper off and yank it straight. Then go to town with a hammer. THEN get a bigger hammer until you beat it into submission.

I think an auto vert (and only the auto vert) is a perfect candidate for a jspec turbo swap WITH the jspec turbo auto tranny. Seems like most importers are giving the turbo automatic transmissions away or scrapping them.

Another reason - thats the best color for an S5.

SpooledupRacing 08-28-07 09:04 PM

I wont do an engine swap regardless and I dont want a piece of shit this is supose to be the preaty car and thats it if the frame is all bent and nasty it wont be the preaty car..

i have a bumper and a hood for sale
pm me if your interested.
These pictures were taken on the same day.
The dots you see on the bumper are just bugs.
Both parts are flawless

Coupe time!

SpooledupRacing 08-28-07 09:24 PM

nice hood I would love that but shipping from BC to me here would be outragous..
and the bumper is for an s4 I need one for an s5

and yeah I think I will dump all the cash/parts into the coupe

clokker 08-28-07 09:26 PM

Jeez Dave, that's a shame but it really doesn't look all that bad.

Someone like classicauto could probably give a more experienced opinion but I've seen far worse damage repaired without evidence by determined bodyshops.

SpooledupRacing 08-28-07 09:29 PM

right my problem is how much will I have dropped into it to get it back to "about normal"

I am very picky because I have never had a perfect car and I wanted this to be that car..

I have not made up my mind but I deff think it is a possibilty that I will part it out

bad wheel 08-28-07 09:32 PM

What happened? Did you hit some dude who was flexing? How do I know you say? He left an imprint on your car!

But seriously, I would use i for parts if it has all those issues and you wanted to make it a beauty queen. Doing all that work to get it prim and proper would be a major pita.

SpooledupRacing 08-28-07 09:36 PM

well I am going to pull the bemper cover off and inspect it a bit more but to be honest I am guessing it would take well over 500.00 to get it to look "decent" and I have to much planned for the coupe this winter..

btw my nephew was being a dumbass I just caught him in the act of stretching

DarkKnightFC 08-28-07 09:39 PM

You need to take everything off and find out just how bad it is. I bent everything back into shape on mine and replaced the fender and shit and you can't even tell. If its not worth putting a little time and effort into then you should just get rid of the whole car.

SpooledupRacing 08-28-07 09:46 PM

my deal is I have a coupe that is I am going to dump over a grand into this winter.. I dont have time or money to drop alot of cash into this car to..

I wont get rid of the whole car I will take everything I want off of it if I decided it is to bad

Andrizzanizz 08-28-07 09:51 PM

how much you want to sell the whole car for?

my vert is exaclty the same.

except for the all the damage. ha

InsomniacFC 08-28-07 10:55 PM

I was expecting some major damage! That's not even bad at all and it'll buff out ;)

Wanked_FC 08-29-07 12:20 AM

That's factory error... Oh thats SUPPOSED to be like that... that'll buff out...

RotaryResurrection 08-29-07 02:11 AM

Dude, that isn't shit. Pull the bumper cover off and take it to a good frame and body man, and it'll cost 2-300 bucks to get it straightened up as if it never happened. You might need a bumper cover depending on how much of an abrasion it has, though.

I WOULD NOT part out the car simply because of that. You can get the parts to fix it good as new for under 200 dollars easily.

I'm sure he'll want an S4 bumper on his S5.... that'll look awesome. :)

SpooledupRacing 08-29-07 06:11 AM

Well I am hoping when everything is pulled off that it will be easy to clean up.. I will know more this weekend when I tare into it..

I will need a new bumper cover and new ftp lenses

I will need a new hood but thats ok because this was a steel hood and I have an aluminum hood on my 86' and I planned on putting a carbon fiber or fiberglass hood on the 86 anyways so I can transfer the coupe hood to the vert.

I just want it all to line up because if it does not and I drop all this money into it then I will be disapointed because I want this car to be very clean..

I will know more once the cover is off so I will snap more pics later this weekend...

RotaMan99 08-29-07 06:35 AM

Ok, stop posting while your ahead and go get it fixed or sell it to someone that doesn't mind sinking a few hundred bucks in body repairs!

classicauto 08-29-07 07:21 AM

holy s**t you're worried about that?

This car must have gold floor pans if you're worried about that bump turning it into a POS. :)

Easily repairable. Undectable afterwards. I'm sorry to hear you've had such poor experiences with body men that you feel this damage will comprimise the entire car.

budmanracing 08-29-07 07:24 AM

I have a 90 vert parts car if you are looking for parts.

SpooledupRacing 08-29-07 07:43 AM

yeah alot of the body shops around here are either very expensive or you get crappy work for 4-500.00

I wont sell off the car thats for sure I plan to fix it if it will be fixable and be clean..

me and the wife already started talking about body parts and what she wants to do with it to make it look good again..

RotaryResurrection 08-29-07 08:59 AM

Start off with a big brake kit and new master cylinder, evidently that's the most necessary part.

Steel hood? On a vert? Are you sure?
