Acceleration Problems, etc

I got an '88 gtu and i will drive it for about 15-20 minutes then it starts to hesitate. I floor the gas pedal and stutters like crazy makes my 7 jump back and forth like my clutch was messed up or something. I changed my fuel filter, but I believe it needs another one because the fuel left in the old one was dark brown. It will drive like a champ for the first 15-20 minutes then it starts doing that. I can smell gas and can tell its running rich. How do I adjust that, also I've been having trouble starting my car, i would have to push down on the gas just to get it to start and still takes a while to start it. Apart from that my shift light doesn't tell when to shift. Can anyone explain to me what might be the problem and how to fix it please.

Could be numerous things......

I would start by ruling out the simple things. Meaning do some regular maintenance on the car like plugs, wires maybe inspect your throttle body and make sure no plates are sticking. Aside from that the heavy bucking sounds like an AFM, I had a similar problem once.

I changed my plugs not even 3 days ago. I should change the wires. I did notice like a clicking noise when I drive. It clicks like if there was a plastic cap inside somewhere under the hood, but I doubt there is one. Could it be a sensor that is messed up, because when I turn the a/c on, my 7 drops rpms then dies. What is AFM, I'm still learning about rotarys

If it only starts doing it after 15-20 min. of driving then you need to check your fuel pump sock, cause i know in my little Mighty Max Pickup i had it had so much rust in the gas tank that after a lil driving the sock would stop up and it would start bucking, as for the A/C killing the car, check to make sure you BAC valve is plugged up and working right, more than likely it needs to be cleaned anyways.... Hope this helped

How would I go about cleaning the BAC valve? Sometimes my 7 runs great then other times it starts to, as you say, buc, then it hesitates at acceleration. Drops below normal Idle. Could it be accelerator cable not being adjusted right.
