Acceleration problems
ok so im doing this new rebuild on a stock N/A and ive tried just about damn everything.
so heres my problem the car starts and idles perfectly, but everytime i try and rev it up more than idle speed it dies! i can fether the throtle up to get it there but when it comes back down it just straight up dies. so heres what ive gone through. fuel injectors are either new or cleaned so the spray is good air flow meter replaced with known good no vaccum leaks fuel presure is perfect compression is good sparkplugs are new i am getting spark crank angle sensor is installed correctly i did alot. thats what i can remember any avice is apreciated |
forgot to mention that it is an 87
i just replaced the map sensor too that dident improve anything
did you check your throttle position sensor, TPS? what does it idle at?
yes, it idles at 750rpm it idles fine but as soon as you hit the gas it dies... unles you feather it up
did you the throttle body mod by any chance, the mod where you remove the first set of secondary butterflies? a side effect of that mod is if the give it gas too quick, the motor could bog or stall.
no, completly stock.
bump
Tps?

Sounds like an AFM to me.....
^ yeP...
i had the same problem when i was messing around with the AFM. if you can, try to get your hands on another AFM... |
no i replaced the air flow meter, thats how i got it to idle. and it was working on the car i took it off of so im assumeing its good
should i try another air flow meter or what? how do i know if its bad? cause its idleing fine
Unplug the AFM. If it runs better, your AFM is the problem.
The AFM sends a signal to the ECU on how much air your motor is taking in. If it's unplugged, your car is basically running off a base map... sorta. It's not as efficient, but it'll run. |
no it doesnt even idle when its not on there. and if i manualy press the flap down it starts to bog down then dies so that tells me its working allright.
How's your idle air adjustment screw on the top of the throttle body? Has that helped at all?
How about the variable resistor? The 13B likes to run rich at idle, to help keep the idle stable. |
the idle is awesome, and those adjustments only affect idle. im starting to suspect the ecu might be bad
any one have some fresh ideas?
