ac leaking
 

i posted this in the interior/exterior forum but no one responded to it

i just recently recharged my r134 system and i was in heaven until i noticed a water leak. it was leaking onto the passenger side carpet. it was coming from up in the top left corner on the passenger side. any ideas? its cold water. no smell.


i did some searches and came up that it might be the ac drip.

why is it pouring into the passenger side then

The condensate drain is either broken/disconnected/clogged. Not exactly sure how the drain is connected inside the passenger compartment to the 90 degree drain tube in the engine compartment. The drain is on the passenger side low. I believe a metal tube.

does the tube go through the firewall. cause the only thing i think it is a black box down their with a tube sticking out going to the firewall.

Bet that tube is clogged, it was on mine.

i love when things work out right, i pulled off that tube and a ton of dirt and pebbles came out. ran water through it to get it really clean. smack that black box around to shake anything loose. no more leaks.

That's condensate. Refrigerant is a gas at atmospheric pressure, so you wouldn't see it.

As mentioned, most likely is a clogged condensate drain. If you have a look at the bottom on the eveporator housing under the dash, it's shaped to drain condensate down to a drain tube that pokes though the fire wall into the engine bay, where is drips onto the ground.
