AAS tampering questions...
 

First off, yes I know everyone thinks the AAS sucks, doesn't work etc etc. I'm just asking for temporary use this way before replacing it all. First question is that if I remove the actuators with them all on the same setting, will they remain there, or slip to different settings without the actuator thing to hold them in place? They actually do feel different between settings on mine and I'd hate to have one side of the car go firm and one soft while driving down the road. Also, does anyone know how far apart the settings are on the struts, or do I have to find out myself?

I doubt the valves will move...
What setting did you want them at? Did you know that if you take off the actuators, you can turn the valve farther past the factory actuated "sport" setting to gain more stiffness?

If you want to leave them on a regular setting, why don't you just unplug the actuators, instead of taking them off??
What is your reasoning for actually doing this, first off- then you might get a better suggestion.

Ok this is going backwards from what was asked. No, I don't plan on re-installing them. I had planned on putting the setting to sport, then taking the actuators off and leaving it there. I also had wondered if there were 3 or 4 increments they had. Since I will eventually be replacing the struts all around, I was going to remove the entire system which obviously includes the actuators. My only real concern is if the settings of the struts will change without the actuator to hold the adjuster rod in place. Also, I don't think you could use the actuators to control aftermarket struts. Seems like I read about someone trying to do that before without the desired results. Since I hardly ever change the setting on the console, and I have a nifty rear strut tower bar sitting in my bedroom, I thought I'd start to set up for the eventual change to Illuminas. <- Already started by moving the tower speakers to the doors, just need to modify the tower covers to access the adjusters when I put the Illuminas in. Thats the best I can explain things, did it help?
