91 Hatch Cover
I have a 91 TII with a black interior. Does anyone know were I can find a black hatch cover?
I think they were made of cardboard that would explain why I cannot find any at the junkyards. I have been searching EBay, Mazda dealers and junkyards for a while know and I am about to give up. Thanks ..... |
There's an area of the forum specifically for this:

i have one in my 91'coupe, but its not for sale unless you make a REALY good offer.

Yeah, you just have to sort of look really hard for them since they're rare. Or unless you are really rich and don't mind getting it from the stealership. Make sure you get the speaker covers too for the hatch cover. I came across 2-3 other people who had the hatch cover itself but not the speaker covers. They are a pain to find.
But good thing I waited since I bought a full complete set from a forum member. |
You mean that annoying thing in the back I took out? LoL People actually WANT those?

i bet it wouldnt be hard to make one....in fact i wonder why i never thought about that before.
im thinking a piece of plywood cut to the right size and covered with some of that stuff you cover sub/speaker boxes with. make the mouns/hinges easy to remove so if you need to put something bigger back there you just drop the cover down to the floor of the hatch and sit stuff on top of it. |
dang.. i just sold a mint one for $100. i guess you didn't see my posts in the sale sections.
|
They are called tonneau covers and sell at the dealer for $345.

I suggested to Chuck at RotaryExtreme to make them out of Carbon Fiber. He was going to come over and pick up mine from a 89T2. But due to the price.. He decided not to go on with that idea.

This really bugs me. I want to put my cover on, I have the cover and speaker tops, but nothing on them to hold/hinge the cover onto. The speaker covers have mounts for them, ohh well, looks like a little custom piece that I will have to make myself...later:)

The a hunk of Rod from you local home depot attached to it and you are done. |
Well It's a 1991 na, s5. I'll take a picture of it tomorrow, it's hard to explain...later:)

Yea, whatever is sandwiched between the carpeting on that thing is thin as hell. I guess I'm lucky, mine is in near mint condition still.
:) Not for sale! :D |
