90 N/A help please...

Hi guys, i recently replaced my electric omp, and noticed my oil pressure is reading practically 0! when i rev my car, it will rise and then go back down. i have 20/50 oil in her and before the omp swap she was reading 30 on the stock guage. anyone have any advice?

Does noone know what this problem could be? do i need to bleed the system? is that even possible? qwhat can i do to make the gauge recognize some oil pressure? there is no oil on the floor or on the underbelly of my car...what else could it be? dipstick reads plenty of oil. maybe i should try when the engine is hot.

First - get premix in the tank while you sort it out.

I'm comfused - was the old OMP not working - check code?
Did you swap in a new electric or switch to mechanical or block it off?

Well, considering it's a series 5, it'd be pretty insane to pull it out as I'm pretty sure he's running the regular ECU. ;) Does it smoke at all? Could be either you gauge is dead, your sending unit is dead, or your engine is dead. I suggest getting an aftermarket gauge to be sure.

Verify you have oil pressure by using a mechanical guage. If it checks out, then the problem is just simply the pressure sender underneath the filter or the guage in the dash.

If you have low oil pressure, DON'T drive the car. Did the problem start after you replaced the metering oil pump? If so, make sure that the gasket seals properly and you are not just pumping oil onto your driveway. Did you remove the front cover for some reason?

the oil was changed from 10w30 to 20/50 and the pressure dropped to 15-30 if i recall correctly, then a month later the omp gave errors on my ecu soo now i replaced the omp with another one and aparrently that one was broken also. finally i put another omp i recently purchased and no more errors on my ecu, but the oil pressure is above 0 but still almost on it. there are no leaks at all and the pressure does rise when i sit and rev the gas. do i need to add oil? i never added any oil throughout the time i was removing the omp.

HHmm.... yeah, i would recommend 1/2oz premix/gallon of gasoline right now.

Make sure your oil is at the F mark on the stick and use a mechanical oil guage. (You can buy one, use it, clean it, then return it to save $$).

It should read about 60-80psi @ 3000 held.
