89 vert+gt wing = rice????
I was wondering if I put a carbon fiber gt style spoiler on my 89 vert if it would look rice?
-basically I wanted a more aggressive look to my rear and some down force but I don’t want it to look rice. - they also have a lower 5.5in but i think it is better to have it closet to roof height thewing- a JSP 56in x 10or5.5in carbonfiber wing from summit racing http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...cfgt1056_w.jpg the vert- http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...7/IMG_8699.jpg |
yes it is rice in my opinion but it's your car, do what you think looks good
|
Your Car, But I Would Not Put One On My Vert.
In My Opinion It Looks Cheesy!!! |
If you do install it which airport will you be flying out of?
|
LOL!!!
|
Scheiße all right i was leaning that way too, i was just wondering what that rx populous thought about it and i figured that was just about the answer I would get.

^ Hmm that's kinda tight :D. Since your still looking for opinions, here's mine. The majority of the aftermarket wings serve no real purpose on the street because they really aren't designed to create down force. Most are more of a visual upgrade and should be treated as such. I would get the remote one since it is unique. Then again that's me. ;)
|
i don't know, it wouldn't look too bad if you have other things to compliment it. a beautiful paint job, wide rims, exhaust, and power.
|
Dude, it's rice. Be it shrimp fried, beef fried, chicken fried, or plain white.
|
maybe if your car had a bodykit with some nice wheels then you would get a wing ..but that wing especially as high as the roof ...oh boy lets not talk about it...barf
just stick with the clean look until you do something else oh...the wing would look ..how do you say that word HIDEOUS...... |
They both are ricey...the 2nd is meant for a rsx so it would look very outta place on a vert...but to each their own!!!
|
This rice shit is just plain stupid. Some of you kids need to grow up!

I wasn't talking about that photo shoped picture. I was talking about the pic with the remote adjustable wing on the rear wheel drive vert. |
yes
|
:squint: the second wing was a joke.
and this year -full rb exhaust -Bönez Street Comp Intake -KSP Fresh Air Headlight Cover -mazdatrix tower bar -kyb gas adjustable -maby the rb vert spring kit have $1,200 audio set up -jvc touch screen -fosgate all around i dont just plan on putting rice on her she is a soloII car |
I think it looks nice. That's a nice style of wing and for the convertable trunk lid it'd fit nicely.
These purists are the kind of people that think if it doesn't add HP to the car then it's worthless. Some things are all about style. my definition of rice vs. style = Using the cheapest most mainstream way of making your ride "appear" to be something that it most obvious isn't. Putting spinner hubcaps on your car. Putting stickers on your car. Not vinyls; stickers. Placing said stickers on your tail lights and calling it "covers". Putting a hood scoop on your car that uses two sided tape. |
you don't need a wind for downfoce on your car. If you want an agressive look, why not lower it and upgrade wheels?
|
Look the reason stuff is for a ricer is because it serves no real perpous exept to look 'cool' you don't need a huge wing unless you are hitting up tracks and hitting speend over 80mph around corners. Find a wing with downforce that helps and no one can call you a ricer.
|
Theres a vert in Lampasas with a similar wing, and I don't really like how it looks. It just doesn't quite look right on the car. Its your car, though, so do what you want.
|
i'd say save the money from gettin the gt wing and put a higher priority on you exhaust, suspension etc...then once your car is burning corners at 80+ worry about a wing. you said its a solo 2 car...that wing will do nothing to help your times out but kyb agx will help...but as far as style goes, i think that wing wouldnt look to bad...

holly sh** that was great!!! bet that he feels stupid now :balls: but yes 1st on my list is to finish off my rb exhaust then intake and maby the kyb if i have the cash |
IMO opinion putting a spoiler on a car that big IS rice if the car's a daily driver. Especially if it's a convertible. It's like saying, well I want downforce, so I thought I'd get it by adding more drag than my roofless desigsn already has. It will also interrupt the lines on a ver with top down or up, the back is too flat back, if you want a wing, sit a small one carlength 1 to 1.5 inches off the deck, and make sure it's body color with body colored props too, or small aluminum props like the Mazdaspeed Rx-8s spoiler. These are just my opinons though, It's your car so do what you want to do to it, feel comfortable. And the downforce will help some, but the vert isn't designed to be sporty enough for needed downforce. Try and go with a wing design that looks OEM almost for agression. If not, you can go for something like that, it's all personal opinion.

^ LOL thats some funny shit! That lawmover is a stud!
|
damn...that lawn mower is a trooper!

Dont talk about downforce and functionality, as that mother wont kick in till very high speeds, and where i know pretty much everyone one the board has hit those speeds, they havent hit them often enough to necesitate a big asss wing. If this is for the track, go for it, you'll appreciate the extra downforce.
