89 na to 87 T2
I have a 89 GTU that has a engine that is on its last leg. My buddy is giving me is 87 T2 that has a body that is all fucked up. but the engine is good under 50k on it. know i think it is the S4 motor and i think that the engine i have in my car is the S5 i think. now what i wanted to know is it a hard swap to do because im going form a S5 to a S4. is the wiring different. i need to know more about this. if someone want to get me the good word about it, it would be nice

just swap the ecu and keep the engine harness from the engine you are swapping(the turbo) ... about it. Not very hard there are many topics on this please check the faq post on top.

Yea from what I read its not too hard. Good luck with the swap!

why not just put the nice body parts from your car on the turbo. save you some hassle and if the different colors just have it painted probably the same price as it would be to swap the motor and tranny and electronics and all that crap.

First off you dont have to swap the tranny and the ecu and wiring harness are ez to put in ... The n/a trans can hold the turbo as far as how long depends on how strong your trans is. Of course a t2 trans is always a wise upgrade. BUT you do not have to replace the trans. The ecu is located on the passenger side under the carpet ez unplug and plug in ... The wiring harness just needs to feed through the firewall to the ecu VERY EZ AGAIN... Please this has been done many times gl.

if its so easy than how come every one who does seems to post that they have problems and none of them seem to get it right. and the harness isn't a swap i believe as the gauges won't match and the s5's are a different style

i'm not saying that they don't get it running but i'm mean the way you describe it is that it's like a bolt in overnight project
