89 n/a vert . Gas gauge only and oil pressure gauge not working
hi if someone could help it would be great . I have a 89 na s5 vert auto. Car is all stock and runs great . I’ve did a lot of searching on the forum but can’t find my answer . My oil pressure gauge doesn’t work . I’ve changed the sensor on the engine and made sure the connection was good but still no reading of pressure . And my fuel gauge works when tank is full but once it reaches half a tank it drops to E . I don’t what’s going on . I just bought a new cluster to try n see if that helps but don’t really want to change as my car has 83000 miles and the new cluster says it has like 145000 . Any suggestions would be great ! Thank you
I've once had a similar problem with the fuel gauge on my 90 GXL. Turned out to be a bad sending unit in the fuel tank.
For the oil pressure gauge, you might try this simple test from the FSM. If you ground the sender wire with the specified resistor in series, than the needle should go to the specified pressure values.
30 psi: 196.7 ohms
60 psi: 141.2 ohms
110 psi: 102.6 ohms
The higher the resistance, the lower the pressure reading. If the gauge still doesn't work, than it's either the gauge and/or related circuitry or the wire from sending unit to the gauge.

Ok awesome ! I will swap the sending unit with a buddy whose has a donor car laying around and see if that helps before I do the cluster . I will run the test also on oil pressure to see if I can get some answers . Thank you
