89 GTUs

I recently purchased a 1989 GTUs and was surprised that there was no rear wiper. I know that the 1990 GTUs had a rear wiper and I thought that the 89 had one too. Any comments??

Thanks

Are you sure you are not confusing the GTU and GTUs? Completely different cars. I wouldn't expect the GTUs to have a wiper- it was supposed to be a lightweight car!

Brad is indeed correct. The rear wiper was not standard equipment on the GTUs model, and may have been added by the other owner or a PO of the GTUs you saw. You could also get them at the dealer as an option I assume.

You've got a GTUs?

Hey, could you do me a favor? Next time you're on the interstate note what RPM's you're running at at 80 mph, and if you don't mind could you tell me?

I'm curious because I've tracked down a GTUs tranny and diff that's I'm going to install in the convertible sometime next month. I'm just wondering how much of a bitch interstate driving is going to be after I get the bigger 5th gear and diff in my car.

Congrats on the purchase, the GTUs is a rare car.

I myself haven't had any trouble on the interstate, but it is also the only 2nd gen I've owned so I have nothing to compare to really.I'm not real sure on the rpms at 80mph but it is somewhere around 3700 to 3800rpm.Hope this helps.

Thanks. :)

I'm sure I won't have any problems cruising on the interstate, I'm just concerned that I might get annoyed if I have to cruise at high RPM's.

I'll deal with it though, my car will be quicker. :)
