88 vert cruise control cpu

Is the cruise control computer located in the same location on verts as other chassis. The manual I have says it should be mounted just above the chassis cpu. I'm trying to sort out why my cruise control has never worked. My vert has the switch by the steering wheel and actuator attached to the throttle but when I went to check the connections of the cpu it wasn't where it is said to be. I don't even see the stud or studs it would sit on.

I can't remember if it's the one by the ecu or if it's in the driver's side foot well. I think it's by the ecu...

Either way, does your car have a cruise control module on the passenger's side in the engine bay?

Also, you can not mix T2 and NA components. They won't be compatible.

My car is not turbo or swapped. Its all original as far as I know. It does seem to have the module Aaron cake shows in his write up. I can check by the engine CPU. I just thing the harness for it would be moved over to the passenger side.

Quick and easy check:
On my 88 convertible, the clutch has 2 switches. One at the bottom of travel to let the starter engage, and the one at the top that allows the cruise to engage when the clutch pedal is not pushed in. There's a plastic button that gets brittle and breaks, then the clutch switch can fall in the new hole, thus it will never see that the clutch is in fact engaged. I glued a penny to that spot back when it happened to me in 2004, so 10 years later I'm still cruising :)

That looks fine in mine. I wonder if the original owner was trying to install cruise control and never got to the control CPU or maybe it failed and got yanked out. As far as I can tell it should be in the same location across all the chassis. Anyone have a picture of the location or theirs. I could just be looking in the wrong place.

Direct to the OP's question, in Verts the Cruise brain is under the foot panel on the passenger side.

Right on, Tui. Details are in the convertible section of FSM Chapter 15 - Body Electrical. See page 15-175 to 15-182 for the vert cruise control system.
